Hello there-

I have 2003 Mallard just bought it recently and I notice that there is a hitch receiver in the back of the trailer. It reads Class 2
V 5 tested. Gross weight 3,500 also says tongue weight 350. And finally says DO NOT EXCEED FRAME READING. Now this unit is weld it to the frame of the trailer it self. And I was wondering if I can hook up my small trailer to it and haul my HD soft tail? the small trailer tongue reads (100 pounds).

Thanks in advance

Is the Mallard a fifth wheel?

Does the second trailer have electric or surge brakes?

Is your medical certificate current, and your class 1 commercial drivers license up to date? Then you are allowed to pull 2 trailers.

If no to any of the above, correct it, and you can pull two trailers if you are not exceeding the GVWR of the truck, it's GCVWR, and not over 65' long.

In the "Poker world this is a tell" you have a TV that is not up to the job. Your vehicle manufacture has decided that this is the MAX your vehicle is rated for. If you let us what you are towing with you will get some better answers.Year, Make, Model, Engine and Transmission are needed.

No the Mallard is not a fifth wheel and has electric breaks and the small trailer does not have any brakes what so ever and TT and small trailer combine it adds up to 31ft long.

Check your State towing laws.
I believe, like Michigan, Illinois requires the 1st trailer to be a fiver, not a TT.

My thought would be the hitch is actually for a bike rack or other accessory. Not a trailer for reasons mentioned previously by others.

It's illegal to tow a trailer behind a travel trailer. It's only legal behind a 5th wheel.

The hitch is there for a bike rack or one of those rear racks. They do make motorcycle carriers that slide into hitches, but you need atleast a class III for that.

I would only use that hitchon the TT for a bike rack or cargo rack. Not another trailer.

Thank you all-

For helping me with your answers. I will play it safe and use it for bike rack or extra rack for storage.
