It depends on the inverter size, the way it was wired, and how you set it up. My coach has the larger optional inverter which is large enough to power my microwave, and everything but my AC when going down the road. In fact, I run my refrigerator on inverter AC instead of propane when driving. We use the microwave when we stop for lunch and do not have to fire up the generator. Your house batteries do discharge rather quickly when using high powered appliances with your inverter but your engine's alternator will recharge them by the time you get to your next destination.

The inverter should work without the generator on. However, it will only power certain outlets...you need to find out which ones they are.

It should power all your outlets since it is converting 12 volts to 110volts.

Not so on my rig. I have a card published by the manufacturer listing what outlets and what appliances the inverter is wired to and will operate.

Yep, that is the way min works. Maybe it is because my coach was the flagship of Gulf Stream that year and it has all the optional extras you can ask for. It also come with the auto start for the genset. But all my outlets are hot with the inverter on.

I have a 05 DS also. The standerd inverter only powers the TV unless the original owner paid for an upgrade inverter. Also the eng. alternator does charge the house batt.

NO! I bought my coach new and when my 3000 watt inverter/charger. is on, all the outlets on my coach have 110 AC powered. TV, Micro Wave, Fridge, bathroom outlets, living room outlets are all hot.

The OP has a 05 DS just like mine. What I said refers to an 05 DS and has no relationship to what you drive. I ordered my DS new and it came a 500 watt inverter only. The only outlet powered on mine is the front TV. An upgrade was available that powered other outlets in the coach but i didn't order it. I though maybe the OP coach was like mine.

Never thought Newmar would install such a small inverter on a coach. If that is the case, it is possible that it will run the TV only. This sounds like it would be a gasoline coach which don't come with inverters and was added later on.
