Anyone have some knowledge on how to replace those front air bags on a 1996 P-30 chassis. I don't see anywhere in the Chilton Manual #28642 for 87 to 97 GM's. And a outlet that sell them. Thanks for your input.

Firestone makes a set that go in through the hole in the bottom.

They come out through the hole in the lower controll arm. Use a razor knife and vice grips to slice and pull out. Put the new bag in hot water to soften up. Roll it up real tight and use zip ties to hold together. Start to reinstall through the hole in lower controll arm and snip the zip ties as they get to face of controll arm. I just ordered Henderson springs for mine and installing them and ditching the air bags. Spring replacement video

Buy "AirLift" brand bags...much better quality
Reach in between coils and slice the dead bag to smithereens...and pull the pieces out.
Take the new bag(s) and roll in a long cylinder like a jelly roll and tape them with a few bands of plain old masking tape.
Soap up the new bags well...and insert thru the hole in the bottom of the frame but before you are full installed...slide in the rubber biscuits that come with it ( protects the very top of the air bag)
Reach in and CAREFULLY cut the masking tape and the bags will pop out to fill the spring but still need inflated to the proper PSI.

HI JOE, I just did this what a pain, I got a set from amazon for around 80$ . There airlift 1000 pn. 81560 the amazon site says there for the rear but if you go to the airlift site it gives you this part no. for the Chevy P30 P32 front coil springs. They come with instructions. I had to use stainless screw clamps to get them small enough to go thru the 2 inch hole. But I didnt try the hot water trick, do a search for air bags on this site and you will get more instructions. Good Luck. Ken

Once they are installed be sure to raise the front of the coach so the tires are off the ground and inflate to #100-#110. This allows the bags to fully expand. Then lower the coach and reduce the pressure to the desired level.
That information is not included in the installation instructions.
The Firestone bags have a free replacement warrantee.

I didn't replace mine yet, I found this info, it should be about the same for any bag.

AIR LIFT made a bunch, but not sure if they still do.
Some use a hole saw right up through the bottom to destroy it and then fish out the pieces Running the jacks down with allow the springs to stretch, which may facilitate digging them out. The new ones are wet, soapy and twisted that allow you to feed them through the bottom.
I really don't see this job as cost effective though, with Camping World supplying, installing and guaranteeing them at a very reasonable price.
Now, having said this, I finally learned my lesson and just had them install super steer after market coils and the way to go if you're keeping it.
