eflester..ohhh yeah....go down to the water just south of the bridge? The Cg is right on the water's edge..with a paved road between. I gladly paid the $30 for a front row spot for two nights. Sit in the sunshine at the picnic table...watch the watchers and cruisers and consume stuff....walk on the beach...yes, it's a destination, alright. For me, anyway.
oohh..that and the discount liquor store about 6 miles down the road in Ca. And I do mean discount!

I have a Blog..about stuff, some of which is RV'ing.
This very much depends on what day of the week and when in July. If you are anywhere near July 4 - and it falls on a Wednesday so prime days are on each side including the weekend before - you are going to need reservations. As you get closer to NY you are going to need reservations and in metro NY you will want reservations as there are not a lot of campgrounds to choose from (Liberty Harbor in NJ is the closest to Manhattan with easy public transportation) - and you do not want to stay in a Walmart or other parking lot anywhere in the metro NYC area. (I live here, I know.)
@1775: your words are wise, and well taken. Our destination in NY is the capital district, where our accommodations will be at a relative's house, so we're not too worried about that. Our plans don't include going anywhere near NYC.
We will, however, be setting out at the end of June and I have been thinking that it's liable to be very competitive during our eastward trip. I'm going to plan this as closely as I can. It's difficult to predict how many miles we're likely to be able to make in a given day, but I think we'll have to plan conservatively and hope for the best.
Everyone's comments are greatly appreciated. This is a very good forum. I hope I'll be able to provide some advice that has at least a small fraction of the usefulness of those I've received.
