We just did pretty much what you are talking about only we lived east of you in Erie Pa. Studied the Ocala area for a year or so and decided that would be a good place for us. More laid back but near enough to the busier places it if you want it. Came dowm in Novemeber with the 5th wheel, found a house in December. Listed ours up north and got lucky as it sold in 8 days. Went back for the closing, got rid of a lotta stuff and packed as much as we could ourselves (saves a lot if you pack your own boxes) and had it all shipped my a moving company. Cost us $3000, to ship 6000# or so. Getting settled in here and love it so far.

We tried Florida for five years and moved back north. Was fun for the first four years and in year 5 was time to go.

We had United Van lines take our dining set and all of our heavy stuff. About 5000lbs and store it for two months. My wife and I loaded a storage unit (smaller Uhaul's worth) and loaded a 26ft Uhaul. Took one car to the Tampa airport and left it there. She drove my truck and I drove the 26ft Uhaul the 1000 miles to Indiana. Unloaded the truck into our short term apt rental and returned it. Hopped on a plane back to Tampa, got our car and the second rental truck(16ft Uhaul), loaded it up and did it all again. Took our time finding our house and by paying cash got a fantistic buy from someone who was transferred and needed to sell fast. Did all of the above for $6000, about 16,000lbs. Didn't have an RV at the time.

Don't regret moving to Florida, but haven't missed it a bit. I guess we are just northerners at heart.
