It's time to replace the rubber on our 2006 Monaco Camelot. The coach currently has 295 80R 22.5 Goodyear 670. I have a chance to get a heck of a deal on a couple of 305 70R 22.5 Michelins for the Steers. do I do it? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Personally, I'd have no problem with the switch but,as your header indicates: "Tire Experts". I don't know if there is a Tire Expert on the list so I'd check with a Michelin Tire Expert to make that decision. Not just Willie Lump Lump behind the counter, get a phone number from the operation of someone in the field that can give you an accurate professional answer. You have a lot riding on your choice. (no pun intended, but.....)

Ain't no expert. The loaded radius of the 305 is about 1.1 inch less than the 295. Also I assume the 295 is OE on your 2006. The low pro tire may or may not ride rougher. I would stay with the original size. This opinion is worth what you paid for it.

Will they fit the wheels, carry the weight, and NOT hit at full steering lock?

What are your front axle weights? I put with 315/80's on the front of my Dynasty so I would not worry about a 305 fitting and you will gain 500lbs of load rating. I'm probably going to replace my rear tires with 11R22.5's instead of 295's as they are not as expensive.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Check the age of the tires, maybe there's a reason you're getting a heck of a deal.
