Hello everyone.

I don't post here much but read and learn alot. Well I have a problem and need to tap into the wonderful knowledge of the members here.

I have a 31 ft. Shasta Travelmaster class C on a Ford E450 chassie and it won't start. Last November when I put it storage I took it for a drive and topped off the tank. When I got back in after filling it it wouldn't start. Just cranked and cranked but wouldn't fire. So I sat there for about ten minutes and let it cool and it finnally started. So I drove it to the storage building and shut it off and then tried to restart it and it fired right up. I didn't think to much more about it until I went back a month later and tried to start it up and let run and again it cranked but won't fire. I had my local mechanic come out and check it and he says it's the fuel pump. He says he can't get that large of a vehicle into his garage and suggested I have it towed to some place else.

I'm wondering if any of you have had a similar problem and how costly it was to fix. I know the lacal Ford dealer could surely take care of it, but that i'm sure will be on the high end of the cost. I'd just like to hear your thoughts and suggestions or if there may be another possible cause.

Thanks.

Get a code reader and pull some codes.

4 things needed to start:

- spark

- fuel

- air

- compression

Start working backwards.

Off hand, if it has been sitting...

Does it have fuel in tank?

Fuel pressure? (ie filter clean, pump working)

Do a computer reset.

I have a 2001 31' Winnebago and had the same problem. Wouldn't start just cranked and cranked. It turned out to be my fuel pump. For the pump, filter, oil change and labor it was 1,150.00 give or take 25.00. Starts just fine now. Good luck.
