If you go with Dish and have 2 televisions you will need to change the internal settings on the Dish for Cable versus the default of Air. This will get the signal going out the back coax cable for connection to your trailers coax that goes back to your second television. I previously posted how to do this so you should be able to do a search on JETENBU and find the instructions.
I hope this helps.....

Just went thru this. You can buy the equipement but they make it so expensive you may as well just pay the 2 year contract out and have them give you the equipement.
If you sign up for a 2 year contract, they provide the box, the coax cable and will provide a basic household dish (which works fine with a stand). If you want a tracking unit or roof mount, you pay for it.
Also if you want the DVR keep in mind they use a double coax so you may need to upgrade your exterior connection.

Don't know about Direct but if you tell tech support at Dish that you are in an RV, they will tell you that they can't send an installer out. That is not quite true.
If you antenna is on the roof of the RV, a Dish installer will not come out. However, if your antenna is on a tripod on the ground, then you can get an installer dispatched to your campsite. I’ve only had to get an installer out twice. Once for a bad LNB and once to install a different antenna to get the local channels.
Note: you may have to get a supervisor on the line to confirm about the installer going to your campsite.

We just had Dish come out and re set our dish that's on a tripod since we had just moved our travel trailer from MS to GA. We didn't have to pay a service fee because of the insurance we purchased for $24. I had called Dish to have the dish adjusted and the lady that answered said it would cost $68 for the service call unless we had insurance. I asked her how much is the insurance and she said $24. I told her OK I'll take the insurance. In a minute she came back on the line and said Ok you've got the insurance. So I said now send the technician out and have him adjust my dish. She said OK and then I asked now how much is it going to cost? She said nothing because you have the insurance.
We have dish at home and for $5 extra a month we were able to have our system in the travel trailer added on to the bill at home so we didn't have to pay for a separate service. We've had Dish at home since it came out and now we've had it in the trailer for over 2 years with no problems except when you have to call Dish on the telephone for something. Be prepared to talk to some people that have no earthly idea what they're talking about. Just hang up and call back until you get someone that speaks English and knows what they're talking about.
I was talking to one person that said Dish Network doesn't install dishes for RV's. I told her I'm sitting here looking at one that's in my travel trailer that your company's technician installed so I guess he didn't get the memo, ya think? I hung up and called back and finally found someone that could speak intelligently about their services. Do things like this cause anyone's eyes here on this forum besides mine to twitch? My right eye lid will flutter like crazy when I'm dealing with people that I can't communicate with. Geese, it drives me crazy!

I know what you mean about Dish phone support driving you crazy. After getting a phone tech in another country that I could not understand I asked to be switched to a phone support tech in the US. After getting my problem resolved I was asked if there was anything thing else I needed. I responded that since I earned my money in the US I had a problem with it going off-shore for support and that I would like a US based phone support only. Supposedly my account was fixed so that my calls only go to US based support.
Most people don’t know it, but if you ask to be switched to a US phone support person for anything, you have to be switched.

One can purchase receivers from Craigs list and others as well. Before you pay for a unit ,get the serial # and call Dish to verify it is a unit that was not stolen. I bought a receiver that will handle the front and back tv's in the 5er. for $75. I did have to replace the LNB on the satelite dish to what they called Power Pro, $50.
My dish for the 5er came from a vacant rent house...when the tenant moved away the service was disconnected and the tech left the dish on the house. The owner gave the dish to me as he did not want it on the vacant home.

We currently have Dish service. Is it possible to take the satellite from our house and mount it on a tripod? I've been told that the receiver we have is complicated to hook up to the tv in the rv. I can't get a straight answer from Dish......

couple of things to think about direct or dish.
1.when you move around the usa and you want "local" chanels you have to call.
2.did you know that going out of usa dish and direct aren't legal...don't tell them.
3. you can get "distant" channeling from dish but you only get New York major stations, not bad unless you are in calfornia or arizonia....3 hour difference at times.
4. and, be aware of them rewiring your cabling in your trailer...NOT all trailers are automatically wired for cable/off air/satellite

When we had Direct, I filled out a form that stated that the receiver was in an RV and would remain there permanently. After a year I started getting charged $15/month so I dropped that feature.
We prefer the local channels for wherever our current location is. Mainly so we get the local weather forecasts. That costs just $5/month and only takes a phone call. And yes, I have called to get the "Service Address" changed every week.
