First time dry camping at Silver Strand Beach. Beautiful place. No generators from 8 pm to 10 am! Battery lost juice at 2 am. Woken up by CO alarm beeping from time to time due to low voltage.

Solution, disconnect the ground on the battery just so we can sleep.

We're here for one more night. How can I extend the power? I can get another battery. What's a more permanent solution as we would come back here?

Your heater is probably sucking up a lot of fan power. WHILE BEING EXTREMELY WARY, try flipping on a stove burner on low flame and keep your bedroom window open a crack. You'll need to fully recharge that battery. Stay tuned for 56 additional responses...

Don't use the furnace, add additional batteries, run the gen until 8pm and long enough to charge the batteries to 90%, solar to reduce gen run time, LED lights, understand battery power management, etc. Response 56.

Was the battery fully charged to start with? What were you using? Even a single group 24 battery should last one night running a furnace unless the battery is bad.

I had a battery fail last fall. It was able to pass a 100 amp load test but a 1.5 amp load would kill it in 20 minutes.

BTW Responses will be better if you post: battery type and number of them, charger type and model number, gen type and model. The other side is how much power you need/want to use.

This may already be obvious, but make sure your refer is not set to battery power.

Use a lot of the above information but I really caution the option of using the stove burner for heat. Thats just a very dangerous practice.
