Any recommendations on a good campground to stop for an overnight stay on I-55 South? We will be traveling from St. Louis, MO to Santa Rosa, Florida - halfway there would be somewhere in mid-Mississippi along highway I-55. Traveling with an 8 year old and a dog. Would probably stay there both ways (to and from).

Stay out of Memphis... Unless you have bullet proof vests..LOL

Right off I55 you will have Enid lake and about 30-40 miles more will be Granada Lake.. plenty of camping spots.. plenty fishing, play grounds, kept clean.. I go to granada lake several times a yr .. both are just south of Memphis about a hours drive..

Honk when you pass the Coldwater Exit...LOL

In Jackson MS, get off I 55 at Lakeland Drive, a few miles
north of I 20. Go east about a mile to the sign to turn
right into LeFleur State Park. (There is an earlier sigh
to the park, but this is NOT the campground). A rather
dusty road leads to the campground, on a lake, maybe a
half mile. You could SEE
downtown, except that the park is very wooded. Check it on
rvparkreviews.com. We find it quiet, and convenient to
the interstate. P M me if you have questions.

It is not on I-55, but on one trip to FL we have stayed in Paul B. Johnson state park just south of Hattiesburg, MS.

A really nice park.

From our home just south of StLouis it was about a day's drive.

EZ Daze RV Park (new park) exit 287 536 We Ross Pkwy, Southaven, MS 38671 behind Southhaven Super Center. Rate $33 per night.
Also PERSIMMON HILL(ENID LAKE), MS is a Corps of Engineers park farther south off I-55. Much cheaper option. Says no first come first serve campsites so you may have to make reservations. www.recreation.gov
Enjoy your trip!
