I would love to learn about the best campgrounds in SoCal that allow fishing from boat & shore both at day & night..
I was gonna stay at Lake Piru but they do not allow any fishing at night.
So why would I bother camping at the lake then?
Even if I cant fish on my boat at night I'd like to be allowed to fish from the shore at night.
How many of you fisherman like to visit campgrounds based on this?
That can share some good info with me...?
Thanks.

Santee Lakes in San Diego county has shore/pier night fishing with a special permit at their 5 lakes. Great campground too! It's in the city of Santee, near shopping and WalMart...yet it feels like you are out in the country!

I don't fish, but I know it's big at Lake Casitas in Ojai. Check on the night fishing.

But are there camp spots within walking distance from the water to fish all night? & then walk back to our camper to go to the bathroom or whatever?

You can night fish at SARL on the weekends. Its man made private lake that is stocked every week. Ive been there twice a couple years ago. There are 24-hour passes offered on Friday and Saturday night on weekends nearest the full and new moons each month. The next 24-hour fishing is set for April 20-21. The 24-hour passes cost $60 and have a 15 fish limit. An angler can bring his wife and up to three kids and all can help fill the 15-fish limit on one of these passes, and camping is free at SARL with a 24-hour pass.
A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.

I was just telling the wife about these locations yesterday, I've been to Corona lake & saw it as a mud hole, but might go anyways.
A friend of mine really likes Irvine lake & what nice about these places if you like to drink, its completely legal being a private lake & you do not even need to have a fishing lic.
My friends say the Irvine even has a restaurant available, I can say that Corona will sell you all the beer you can drink.
& you cant fish & get drunk all night!
The more I think about it thats where I'll probably go for my 1st camping trip LOL!

Santee has restrooms fairly closely spaced, or you can get a campspace backing right up to the lake like we do! Look at the website and maps of the lakes....some spaces are right against the lake and docks.

Wouldn't be the first time its been called a mud hole. If you go there make sure to take plenty of firewood and a shovel for the fire pit. Take your own beer too. The store at the lake is expensive.
