Our dogs loved them but got diarrhea every time I gave them. It took a bit for me to make the connection, but when I did, that was all the evidence I needed. BTW, this was long before the current buzz.

Honestly I just don't understand, with so many other choices why anyone would knowingly give their pets a questionable product.
Would you rather wait and see if you end up with a seriously ill or worse, a dead pet and then realize that maybe there was something to this?
I don't understand taking the risk....

No kidding Sher, why take the risk of them getting sick.

My dogs have been eating the chicken jerky treats for over 7 years now and have never gotten sick from the product. I read the directions on the package and made sure they did not get more than the recommended treats per day.
Also check out the dog breads that got sick or died, most are smaller dogs that have fragile imnune systems.
Dogs have been dying for years. But since Purina purchased the company late 2010 the number of deaths seems to have increased dramatically.
My 33 lb mixed breed 2 1/2 year old dog died on 3/4/12, 4 days after he & his mom ate from a new bag. She was also sick but recovered. My 2 other dogs ( his dad & brother) ate from an old bag. They never got sick. They got 1 treat a day each for good behavior for well over a year. Bag says they could have safely had 3. It does seem that some bags have a toxic substance. Treat on Wed died on Sunday. Sudden onset kidney, liver, pancreas failure, then his heart stopped. My dog did NOT have a sick day in his life.he did not have a "fragile immune system" I know at least 25 people with LARGE breed dogs who have died also. Do you work for PURINA by chance? I pray for your dogs if you continue to feed them this. Why play Russian Roulette? I saw the 2 FDA Warnings too late. RIP Ballistic BJ. Waggin Train killed my dog, even vets and a university vet school believe this! AND just because pet food says made in American, it isn't always so. COOL laws don't cover them as they do human food. I make my own now.

Right now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon that anything made in China is bad for you. Start checking the food you eat, most of it is now a product of China.
I don't give my dogs anything to eat from China. Additionally, we dont' eat anything from China. If the package doesn't clearly say "Made in USA", it goes back on the shelf and not in my cart.
And you are right - many human foods are processed and sourced from China. I love those little mandarin oranges. I have not had any of them for YEARS. Why? I can't find any that aren't from China. Even the DelMonte and Dole brands are canned in China.
I had a very old dog, and he got canned pumpkin added to his meals to help hold his "output" together. There for a while, I couldn't find canned pumpkin. One day I found some at a local grocery - I was so excited, I put 6 cans in the cart. Got it home and looked at it - Made in China. It went right back to the store. And when they asked if something was wrong with it, my reply was "Yes, it was made in China". I hope these stores get the message.
Grocery shopping takes a lot longer these days. Reading all the packaging takes time. But I think my loved ones and myself are worth the extra effort.
Whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

X2
my dog got that also. stopped buying them.
there are sooooooooo many healthy and non-sickening treats out there for dogs. WHY buy these awful things?
I used to listen to Warren Eckstein on my way to work and he was saying years ago not to buy treats from China because they use dye similar to that which is used in tanning saddles. That seems feasible, as why should dried chicken be so yellow? Our dogs couldn't tolerate Waggin Treats and likewise, those little bulk treats you get at pet stores, the ones that are a biscuit wrapped in dried chicken. Our girls would get sick from those, too. Sad, because they loved them.
