I wrote a bit back that I stopped buying these for my dogs when I found out they were made in China and there were reports they made dogs ill.
Now they are in the news for it.

Yes, my brother's dog got VERY ill on these things. I only buy 100% natural dog treats made in the USA.

I saw this on the local news here in Fl last night, the standard poodle is doing well now but how scary for the owner. The dog was very sick.
Kudos to her for sending the check back and going public with this.
I don't know how true this is but I read a while back if you look at the sku number on the package, if the first number, it stands alone is an 0 it means the product is made in usa/canada.

Here we go again. If you read the FDA reports, they have not been able to link any dogs illness or deaths to the Waggin Train products. Go to the waggin train website and read about the company and look up the FDA report.
My dogs have been eating the chicken jerky treats for over 7 years now and have never gotten sick from the product. I read the directions on the package and made sure they did not get more than the recommended treats per day.
Also check out the dog breads that got sick or died, most are smaller dogs that have fragile imnune systems.

While I tend to avoid Chinese-made pet products - I have to question a situation where a dog eats a treat and a half-hour later, "blood is pouring from his rectum"?? Maybe blood CAN rush through a dogs system that fast - but I wonder what the dog got into prior to ingesting the treats??

Why take the chance? There have been other products from China that have unwanted substances in them. How about chemicals in children's products and whatever it was (is?) in drywall that was eating copper in new homes. So... I no longer buy ANYTHING from China that is edible. I say again... why take the chance? And just FYI... there are other dog treats that, at first glance, don't look like they could be produced in China but they are. It's apparent that someone (manufacturer, importer, retailer, etc.) is using American looking names and buzzwords like "natural" when they are, in fact, produced in China. Who would have thought something named Milo's Kitchen chicken jerky treats from DelMonte is actually of Chinese origin???. They say on their website (buried, I might add) that there have been no health concerns associated with their product but that their chicken jerky treats ARE produced in China. I don't know if there is or isn't an issue with Chinese edible products... I just choose to avoid entirely because I don't think it's worth taking a chance.

Give me a break..anyone who buys ANY food products from a country that is so unregulated that in their own country 300,000 children became ill from baby formula and milk with Melamine added to it, (Melamine in milk shows during testing for milk protein content..a higher percentage rate) 16 were diagnosed with kidney stones, 860 hospitalized and 6 dead babies...2 of the CEO's of those companies were executed in China for their crimes.
A spokesman for the World Health Organization said the scale of the problem proved it was "clearly not an isolated accident, but a indication of profits being more important than health and safety." Bingo!
Obviousily if you actually care for your pets...why on earth would you take a chance? Read the ingredients and county of origin...even on the shelves of WalMart. We currently make our own jerky dog treats or buy natural treats with just 5 or so ingredients.
My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.

I will continue to give my dogs the treats until there is absolute proof that these treats are causing health problems in my dogs. Right now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon that anything made in China is bad for you. Start checking the food you eat, most of it is now a product of China.
