Don't know if my 2000 watt Honda will run my 11,000 btu a/c -- I doubt it, but I am curious. If I try it out and it fails, have I done any harm to either one?
Thanks.

If you overload the genny, it will simply kick itself offline. The AC will stall, and would be hurt if the genny didn't kick off quickly, but it will. I'd not be too concerned. But I also will not guarantee you against harm to either.

I've seen some run their 13500BTU on honda gennys so I'll actually be suprized if it doesn't run your 11000 btu unit. High altitude may hurt your gennys performance enough to cause a problem but if thats not the case, I'd bet it will run it.

I've tested my EU2000 with my 13.5 AC and yes, it will start and run it, but at wide open throttle (screaming for help). I don't recommend the 2000 watt Honda with a 13.5 AC. I wouldn't feel comfortable running my AC with my Honda for any length of time. I don't know about the smaller 11k units.

I think it will work. Although when it is 90+ up in the mountains it could be a bit harder.
No harm to try.

You'll hurt genny's feelings if you don't. ;-)

I don't like maxxing out my Honda for very long doing anything.. and anything much above 11 amps is really pushing it.

Yeah, a 2,000 watt genny is marginal for either an 11,000 or 13,500 btu AC. It might run it, but not with any other load, and it won't be pretty, even if it works. Folks generally recommend at least 3500 watts if you want to run an AC, both to provide for additional things to be on and to keep it from having to work so hard.
Try it, it might work. But don't count on it on a hot day, and don't even think about microwaving any popcorn while you are doing it. Or turning on the overhead lights, for that matter.

We found that during testing a EU2000i would start most 13.5K BTU A/C's IF the A/C was the only thing plugged into the genset. With just using the RV shore power cable most would not start due to other draws, such as converter, etc.
Easier with a folding trailer because we use a drop cord from the roof that can be used to plug into the genset by itself.
Also it will require not using the Eco throttle.
