How do you put a level on a trailer with a slide. Should the level show the trailer level before the slide comes out? Or should it show level after the slide comes out? I was thinking it would be better to have the level show level when its a little higher on the slide side, so when the slide come out its not too low on the slide side. Does that make any sense? what do you do?
Thanks for the help.

It should show level when the trailer is level. And that is the catch, of course. How to know when your trailer is level, so you can install a level level! Do you have a level spot to park it? Then get out the carpenter's level and lay it across the bottom of the trailer frame, and hope they built it correctly...

Level is level. Park the trailer on a flat parking area and grab a carpenters level. I like to lay mine across the inside floor of the trailer. Once you are assured the trailer is flat per the carpenters level go ahead and mount your RV level.

It has to be level, but you can make a mark where it needs to be before running the slide out.

I understand what your saying. Level changes once the slide is out. Your wanting it level after the slide is out. Here's what you do:

1) Get the trailer level with the slide out.
2) Attached your level and mount it so it reads level.
3) Put your slide back in.
4) Note how much out of level you are now and mark a line in the center of the bubble on the level with a permanent marker.

The mark now becomes your new "level" mark for before the slide is put out. If you center on that, once the slide it put out, you should see the bubble center on the actual markings on the level.

Don't obscess over this. The main thing is get it close. My wife says I'm unbalanced all the time so on some days, the trailer helps me, some days it makes me a little more so

I don’t have a slide and maybe there’s something unique about leveling them that I’m not aware of. But the main reason for leveling the TT is for the frig when you’re camped. So your slide would be out then and it seems that would be the proper configuration to level it.

I first used the frig itself to level the TT perfectly, and then attached the level on the front to match. When I actually camp, though, I’m satisfied if I get level within half a bubble. Seems to work, my original frig lasted 22 years before I had to replace it.

How I did it!

Blocked up the wheels with wood strips till the stove top was level. You need to stand in the center of the trailer to read the level or your weight will contribute. I used a digital level.

Now install your side to side level.

BTW all 4 corners should be jacked solid before you deploy the slide.

Mine doesn't, but I use real screw jack stands to support my frame and not those useless crank down stabilizers that have all the pivoting joints and slop in them.

Like the man said - level is level... The only thing to determine is what are you basing level on??? I base mine on the fridge since it has to be level to operate properly without going into self-destruct mode... I put one of those round bubble levels in the fridge freezer compartment and level from there...

When I get the fridge level, I install the side to side and front to back levels...
