I have a 100' decent quality garden hose that I use as the discharge hose for my macerator and I find the thing pretty awnry to coil up. I think it's 3/4 dia. Yes, I know, 100' is over what the macerator specs.
The hose is one of those no-kink labeled hose and was not inexpensive but it may not be the very top of the line either. It's not folding over on itself or kinking, it's just a real pain to coil up for storage. Maybe I need to buy an even higher quality hose, or maybe two 50' would be easier to handle? Maybe I should get a large plastic tote and and attempt to force coil it into the tote?
How do you deal with coiling and storage of your longer/larger garden hoses?
Thanks

I don't have a macerator.
For me several shorter hoses are much more convenient for use with the RV and around the house.
They're easier to coil and store in the RV.

Stretch it out in a straight line, make the first coil the size you want and secure it with a velcro strap. Walk back up the hose rolling it up as you go. Keep the coil vertical in your hands. I think it really simplifies things.

If you're like me... I carry my Macerator with me camping --- just in case. I really bought it for use at home. My RV pad is on one side of the house...and our Sewer is on the other side. About 90 feet apart.
I buried a 2" PVC pipe. So I'm only really having to store a 6' section of polyethylene tubing. On level ground...it would take a lot of 2" pvc to have the same resistance as a 1/2" garden hose.
Link to a previous post w/pictures...
PVC is cheap...you don't have to worry about it rotting in the sun...having it buried, it's always in storage... and it's always ready to go... I recommend it where you can do it...

My 3/4" hose was 125' so I cut it in half and most of the time the 62.5' is enough.

5 gallon bucket and coil it into the bucket.....
OR get some good quality brass hose ends (male/female) cut hose into 25' sections; 50' sections; 30' & 70' sections; 40' and 60' sections......
Make up any size hoses you want.
I carry (2) 25' potable water hoses, (1) 25' garden hose for general use and (2) 25' waste hoses for use with macerator when I use it.

Not to sidetrack the discussion but what is the advantage to using a macerator and hose instead of using a dump station? Or is this because there are no dump stations where you camp (boondocking I'm guessing)?

Hi All.
We have only had one 100ft Water Hose, Period. And that was for the house and yard work only.
First off, we have never seen a water supply that far off anywhere we have ever traveled in our 45+ years as RV'ers.
But at the same time, we do plan for, just in case of. We carry 4 each 25ft Water Hoses. Its easy to carry, and easy to house.
Even if we ever needed a hose that long, we still would never own a 100 ft'er. Just to hard to deal with. 25ft'ers are so much easier to deal with, and to put away when done.
We even have a couple of 6ft, and 10 ft sections of Water Hoses. So far we have never needed more than 35 ft. Still very easy to deal with. Why make it hard on yourself ?. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

Here is the technique for coiling a long hose so it does not kink when being uncoiled. If you just coil the hose up, it is spiraled when you uncoil it. To make it not kink, do this. Start your coil on the ground with a coil the size of the roll you want. The first coil is laid with the long end on top of the coil. The next coil is laid down with the long end extending from under the coil. Alternate over and under as you coil the hose. When you pull on the end of the hose to deploy it, it comes off the coil without kinking.

I used to use a macerator all the time. Now I use conventional hose.
But to your question: I found that 4 times out of 5, 25 feet was enough to do the job. So I cut my 3/4" hose to that length and added fittings. Basically, the only place I use a macerator now is at my home, where I have to push waste about one foot higher than the discharge height. And there, I need the entire 100 feet. So most of the time, I make sure to do a thorough rinsing wherever the last stop is so that I don't have to pump at home.
(I live in a nice subdivision. Every time I use the macerator at home, I feel like "Cousin Eddie" from Christmas Vacation. Not comfortable at all, as residents walk and ride bikes past my house, and my trailer, while I am pumping.)
