I have a 2012 Ram 3500 and purchased the RDS 63 gallon wedge tank with the diesel install kit.
How did you attach the T adapter to the fuel filler line? The fuel filler line on my 2012 Ram appears to be metal and it looks like there is only a small patch of flexible fuel hose I could cut into to mate it, but it's right at the entrance of the tank.
I have the tank mounted in the bed. All I need to do is plumb it. What am I missing? I see other posts where guys say the install is simple. If I have to remove the entire fill line and saw through it, that seems beyond simple - at least to me.

Assuming it is a low pressure line, and you are doing it before the filter(s), can you just cut through the metal line with a tubing cutter?
Some clever installs I have seen cut through the return line (with a one way check valve) that allow fuel to flow from the aux tank down to the fuel tank.

It's definitely low pressure. I would need to buy the correct tool and then my thought would be any metal shavings possibly working their way into the fuel tank. So would I need to remove the entire filler line - which is also attached to the vent line. Sounds like a big hassle to me.

There is an install kit available from Norhtern Tools. I have the tank filling through my filler tube w/o problems. (Chevy)

If you used a tubing cutter, there should be next to no problem with metal shavings.
Check to verify that there is a secondary filter ahead --- normally there is one before the critical injectors and other stuff.
It often is metal sponge and not replaceable.
You should be OK as long as the fuel from the aux tank is filtered to the OEM tank specifications and there is provisions for dealing with water etc.

NewsW, looks like I need to make a trip to Home Depot. The fuel from the aux tank is just tapping into the filler line from the gas cap, so it should go through whatever filtering process as the normal fuel tank fuel.

I just put a RDS tank in my 2007 Dodge 3500. The filler tube was rubber for most of the run. Just cut about 1 1/2" out and pushed in the T-fitting. Metal tubing would make the installation alot more involved I think. Good luck. I really like the tank except when I go to fill it up.

There is no way for us to know your mechanical prowess and handiness with tools.
If you are not sure.... get a professional to do it for you.

Nothing to worry about particle wise, the in tank filtration will handle it.

yeah, I'm hoping somebody replies that has actually used a tube cutter with success. I'm not against paying the shop that quoted me $200 for the entire install - maybe I could get outta there for 100-125 for just the plumbing. But it's a Mon-Fri shop and it's all the way across town.
