Want to stay a few days near Birmingham. According to all reviews I see, there doesn't seem to be much that is acceptable. Anyone know of a place? Location near Birmingham and ease of navigating rv park with a large Class A are of most importance.

The Birmingham area is one of the world's poorest for selection
of an R V Park. Some are

1. Hoover AL.....a city (?) park at an athletic stadium,
well rated by those who stay there.
2. A K O A (if it is still a K O A) in Pelham, which is
well rated, and suitable.
3. My favorite is Tannihill Historic State Park at
mile 100 on I 59/20 south of B'ham.
4. Oak Mountain State Park.

All these are on rvparkreviews.com. P M me with questions

Oak Mountain is about a 15 mile drive from the interstate at 25-35 mph. Rustic state park. Most of the hookups are on the "wrong side". Site B31 is drive thru with the hookups correct. There are two drive-thrus for this particular site - one for parking your car. Lots of room. No trees.

If you want quick on and off interstate access, the Pelham campground is Birmingham South Campground. It is basically a large open field. It does have amenities and is very convenient. It is maybe 5 miles from Oak Mountain.

Birmingham South - we have stayed there recently, nice folks, it did not seem like a large open field to us.

Clanton KOA around about 50 or so miles south of Birmingham AL.

Known as Dandy RV Park, it is part of an RV dealership.

Check it out on RV Park Reviews.

It is only about two years old and has excellent facilities, simple but clean, super easy access for all Classes of RVs.

We always use it for an overnight when we travel to NW Florida.

I do not think a 40' can get into Tannehill. We have one and would not even try to get it in there!

The Hoover park by the baseball stadium is by far the easiest to get into, is very convenient to everything and has full hook-ups.

Oak Mountain is right off the interstate, but has a horrible campground (un-level, 30amp, dirt).

We did find they have a Equestrian campground that's new, and were able to enjoy our 7 days there. The hookups are on the correct side, it's level (gravel), and is the only place in the park with 50 AMP.

There's a Good Sams park there also right off the interstate if you don't mind paying a premium (it's nice).

Good luck!

23 of them take your pick!
I've stayed at quite a few of them with real nice pull thru's and I am also towing.
