Planning on travelling close to wash canada border to pick someone up. Trying estimate milage and diesel cost, any good ideas? I was thinking about 3000 mi round trip in a 1999 Fleetwood Discovery getting roughly 8 mi to gallon. Will be towing back a suburban auto. Give me input Good or Bad

My Streets and Trips says you'll be travelling about 2500 miles. At an average of about $4.40 per gallon and 8mpg, you're looking at $1300.00 - $1400.00 in fuel. Missed the part about the Surban. I would figure $1500.00 in fuel.

Might be cheaper to fly up and drive the Suburban back if it's driveable.

Are you going to tow the suburban 4 wheels down? If so are you sure that it is towable that way and if so does it have a towbar already attached? Just a coupl of extra things to consider.

Do you have a trailer or is the Suburban setup for towing? If not, plan on some added time and expense.

If the burb is driveable, I'd fly from LAX or Palm Springs up to Bellingham, WA on Allegiant Air.

ummm 1999 Burb is over your tow limit. Confirm whether you have a 3500 or 5000 # and I bet your Burb is closer to 6000 maybe more.

8MPG with a 1999 gas coach and that much toad is very very optimistic too.

Airfare will be cheaper! and definitely doable.

Kidkasha, a Burb is short for 'Suburban'. It will be rather expensive to outfit the Suburban with a base plate, etc., if it doesn't have it already. Do you already have a towbar on the back of the Discovery?

Driveby, I thought Fleetwood Discovery's were diesel powered.

I have a towbar and a trailer that is 10 feet long and 8 feet wide with 2 wheels. Have never used the trailer, as the ramp does not accomadate my porsche and was going to have the ramp extended. My mh is a fleetwood discovery w/ 275 hp diesel, I know that I sound stupid as I am very new to the motor home community, but loving it.
