Just had a set of Maxxis 225/75/15's installed today for $470.00. They had to order them because they don't stock Maxxis at all. While they were being put on I asked what DID they stock for trailers and it was some Chinese something or rather I've never heard of. He said installed price for those would have only been 50 bucks cheaper. I had NO idea the price difference was so little. Not sure why anyone would run anything else, especially when the savings isn't there!
Just my opinion.

Chinese tires were much cheaper than other tires, and poorly made, until the Feds got tired of the trade deficit with China and raised the tariff tax (Fair Trade Rules) up to 35% supposedly on the Chinese tires to level the field on prices somewhat. But then Goodyear started making their ST tires in China!

Go figure...

There is a fair number of folks who use Chinese made tires and have no problems with them. My concern is the high percentage of them that DO have problems with them and just don't want to be one of them. It may make a big difference in HOW they are used. A tire that takes a trailer 25 miles to a local campground once a month is a LOT different than one that regularly takes two or three thousand mile trips.

I will be taking mine over 3000 miles to Canada in a couple of months time with my Goodyear Marathons. Will report on performance when I get back. I know it is not regular but it is a start.

Where were your Maxxis tires made? Many of them are also manufactured in China and would be subject to identical tariffs.

I run Maxxis tires as well. Have yet to see a bad review on them. Be aware though that Maxxis are not made in the USA.

Maxxis has many mfg locations. Mine were made in Thailand, but they are about 6 years old. Maxxis is a Taiwanese company, Cheng Shin tire and rubber dba Maxxis International. wouldn't suprise me if they don't mfg anything for export in mainland china given the political situation between the two countries.

Interestingly, when Americas tire orders Maxxis trailer tires, they come individually boxed, instead of the wrapped or open tire that is common for tire shipments.
