Did a search and really didn't get anywhere. I'd like to talk about mattresses for travle trailers, queen size. What are the options, opinions, likes and dislikes.
We have the mattress that came with our 2010 Dutchmen Lite 25C-GS. It really is pretty good, but we have questions.
What types are available?
Do we have to stay with the short length of the travel trailer mattress?
Can we put a bigger mattress on without putting a bigger support board underneath it?
How about the sleep number mattresses, we've heard good stuff and nightmares?
Have seen the mattresses with the more radius curves on the foot corners. Is that worthwhile? How do the sheets fit? How about the contour sheets? We use regular sheets, not the specifically built RV sheets, so there is room.
How about the mattress toppers? Do you sink into them? My wife likes that, I feel like I'm laying in my own sweat. She says that's gross for me to say or ask, but we have one on our home bed and I wake up with my t-Shirt soaked every morning. Sorry, if that offends you.
How about the all foam mattresses?
Anyone have the "Cool Temp Memory Foam RV Mattress"?
I appreciate any and all comments, thanks for your time.

I really like my heated mattress as winter travel has always been on our agenda. Of course for summer time camping it would not be necessary.

Do we have to stay with the short length of the travel trailer mattress? only if you don't have enough room for a longer one. Pretty much up to you. My bedroom would be pretty tight for a full length mattress but some would probably fit pretty well.
Can we put a bigger mattress on without putting a bigger support board underneath it? Well you COULD but not much support at the foot of the bed if you do. Probably would end any sitting there to put socks on
How about the sleep number mattresses, we've heard good stuff and nightmares? Some really love them but I didn't. It's really a personal preference.

How about the mattress toppers? I like them. Do you sink into them? There are many different types and thicknesses available. That's the reason I DON'T like the memory foam but really like a regular 1" foam topper. Doesn't seem to effect the heating properties much at all yet doesn't feel like it's too warm for summer time use. My wife likes that, I feel like I'm laying in my own sweat. She says that's gross for me to say or ask, but we have one on our home bed and I wake up with my t-Shirt soaked every morning. Sorry, if that offends you.
How about the all foam mattresses? Haven't tried one but if I don't like the memory foam topper it's unlikely I'd find the entire memory foam mattress acceptable. Again though, it's a personal choice.
Anyone have the "Cool Temp Memory Foam RV Mattress"? If it does what the name implies it sounds worth a try.

We had the room at the foot of our bed to lengthen the frame and installed a California queen. Much better since I am tall and the headboard is sloped.
I have a bad back and just went out and bought a new mattress from Jysk (don't know if they are in the US or just Canada) link
Price was good and I find that I don't sink into it too much. I have had it less than a week but I have been sleeping much better on it than our old mattress.
The previous TT we had came with the shorter, hard as a rock,RV mattress. We had room at the foot of the bed for a regular size mattress and took the Simmons Beautyrest mattress off our spare queen and put it in there. Didn't leave enough room at the foot for the wife the shuffle past but I don't think she minded crawling over the mattress if it meant a better sleep.
We did not put any extra support at the foot of the bed/larger platform as we figured only our feet were resting down there and we just made sure not to crawl on the lower portion of the bed.
As for everything else, we just used our regular sheets and mattress cover (as we have young boys who still like to crawl in with mom and dad and we are still worried about accidents) like at home.
We have now just purchased a new Flagstaff 5th Wheel and that RV mattress will be coming out to make room for the Beautyrest mattress too!

I swapped the mattress out of my Lance Camper. Lance may have all sorts of problems with delam, leaks and other stuff but they put a dang nice mattress in them.

I do not have enough room for a regular mattress. I was fine with the stock mattress but the wife wanted something different. We put on a foam topper from WalMart. Seems to be ok but I do wonder about heat buildup during the summer. This winter I realy liked it. Will see this July wat I think.

I bought a nice pillow top tempur pedic style mattress from a local mattress store. they were able to order a trailer lenght version for me so don't be afraid to go to a local store and ask.

We have one of the Parklane/Paramount pillow top RV mattresses (short queen) and love it. Equal to our home mattress. However, they are on the firm side, which is what we wanted and have a firm mattress in the house. Price was reasonable, $320 when CW puts them on sale. We camp 100 days/yr. and it is holding up well
