Just out of curiosity, why do you think they chose your particular trailer over another one in the lot? Seems like the perp went through a lot of effort when there were likely easier targets available in the lot...

I don't think this will make you feel better but a friend of mine who lived in a beautiful modern 60' X 14', year old mobile home, came home from work one evening to find someone had stole it!!! Everything she owned but the clothes she wore and her car was in that MH. She was devastated. Shocked. Inconsolable. She, nearing retirement age, had scrimped for years to buy that MH and planned to spend the rest of her life in it. It was never found. She sold the land and moved into a small apartment in town. Ins covered much of the loss but she so feared it happening again she refused to consider staying on the land. Very sad, she died of natural causes a few years later. I believe the loss of her dream hastened her demise. Even if the thieves knew they destroyed this woman's world I'm sure they couldn't care less. I know it sounds radical but I believe thieves should be imprisoned for life or executed for the damage they do to others. The slap on the wrist they receive when caught just encourages them and others of their ilk to keep right on stealing.

With all the serious crime we have these days I doubt the police make much effort looking for stolen RV or MHs.

Sorry to hear about your TT. What is worse, nothing will be done to the thief even if they do find him. What a world we live in today!!!!!

So sorry for your loss

Many years ago there was theft going on in my neighborhood

I had a 1970 Camaro stored behind my house. I own a compressor and a nail gun.

I shot 000's of nails through a few sheets of plywood and buried them around the car.

My thought back then was, if my car gets hit, the theif will be limping.

Of course the laywers and the lawsuit crowd will jump all over me for this type of justice.

Good luck with your insurance claim.

BTW,

Maybe it would pay to check into identical units that have suffered recent damage or been recently licensed. That is if somebody thinks they can swap RV identities.

Have there been some recent storms nearby?

Sorry for the late response - between my regular job, and the second job of handling 3 insurance claims (auto for the TT, gap, and homeowners for the contents) I have been crazy busy.

I have no real idea why he chose mine. It was the biggest TT in the lot (only about 10 RVs), very clean and well taken care of, but in reality - who knows. Maybe he really wanted a HA?

On a positive note, we did go out looking at TTs last weekend, so that if it isn't recovered we won't lose the whole summer season. We decided on a 2012 32TSBH. They had one on the lot that had all of the features I wanted, in the colors the wife wanted. I had a pocketful of REDirect quotes and figured "may as well see what we can do". They ended up getting to within about a grand of RVD after equaling out the options. I ended up dropping a deposit, with the language that if my original TT is recovered it will be refunded in whole.

I still want my original TT back, but according to police the odds are somewhere between slim and none. So, unless a miracle occurs, I will be replacing it in a few weeks.

Hope this long post turns out OK, I am posting from my phone.

Interesting thought, as there have been some fairly severe storms in mine (and original posters) area (I'm about 35 miles from his location).

Would seem like a ton of work to do, when you could simply sell the stolen one to someone who is going to park it on a lot somewhere. My guess is it's hit I75 and hundreds of miles from here now. :-(

It would be great to find it for sale, and arrange a private viewing!

I guarantee he would never steal again

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel!

We took our camper to TENNESSEE RV fOor repairs after a blowout did damage. They took our camper in on April 3, 2012. We called several times to check on progress of fix as we were anxious to go camping. We did not get calls back from the person handling our service so we went up there. He said he had been on vacation and was not sure, but when completed he would give us a call. Well, no call, no info. On April 30, I called to follow up and see when they think would be ready. He says did you not pick it up? I said, no, is it ready? He said no that they had not even worked on it. He said that they found it missing sometime between between 4/10/12 - 4/23/12. They said they searched the lot for 2 days and did not find it. I ask WHY they did not call us and he said he called once on 4/23, got no answer, did NOT leave message. We do not show a call on this date and we have voicemail/answering machine! WHY NO MESSAGE?? Wouldn't you think it important to contact us??!! They knew our insurance told us to leave the camper with them (which now regretful that we did!) We went there and searched, NO CAMPER. GONE! I ask to review their surveillance cameras as they have signs EVERYWHERE saying 24-hour surveillance. Guess what? NO CAMERAS!! NONE!

They of course, accept NO RESPOSIBILITY! They have no resposibilities of ANY CAMPER unless they belong to them even though you have left your camper in their care. Unsure why someone picked ours to steal, except that the Svc Mgr said probably for the aluminium siding! He said they scrapped an old trailer the prior week and got good money for the little aluminium it had! It AMAZES me that someone could just pull up to their lot, hook up a camper and just drive off. I would think they would benefit more by using the camper rather than scrapping it and am keeping my eye out everywhere, but it could be anywhere since they had about 2 weeks before there was even a police report. I think TENNESSEE RV was negligent especailly since they did not let us know, contact the police, NOTHING! They did absolutely NOTHING!

I sure would love to have our camper back but according to the police, insurance, etc, I probably will never see again. My insurance is going to handle it, but it does not take the sting out of the situation! We loved our camper and it was OURS!

BEWARE ALL CAMPERS -
If you need service THINK CAREFULLY of where you take it! We are regretful that we ever stepped foot on TENNESSEE RVs lot especially now that we see they give you a false sense of security that they have cameras and security which obvious they don't! By the way, while were there we found out that they have a huge THEFT problem. They have had the following stolen that we are now aware of: 50 TVs, many propane tanks, motorcycle and our 30' travel trailer! DO THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AT TENNESSEE RV? I THINK SO!!! Were we made aware? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Whoever the scum bags are that took our camper, I wish them the worst luck in the world and hope their life is miserable!
