I was out in my driveway with my Class A and I put the three deep cycle batteries in without charging them. They stayed in my basement for the winter months. I did top off with distilled water though.
After I installed the batteries I put the 2 slides out and then later in the day when I was going to take the coach out for a ride I brought the slides in.
Well, the slides came in extremely slow and the HWH legs went down without my doing.
The HWH light was on informing me that I cannot move until they are brought up.
However, I tried the HWH on/off button and no power. I was puzzled. At this time I had the generator running thinking I could grab power from that but no luck. The power light to the HWH would still not come on.
I went back to the rear slide and tried opening it. The slide went out a little but then would not come in.
Once I did this then the legs came up.
I am wondering if my deep cycle batteries need a full charging in order to correct this problem???
Has anyone experienced this or have any input????I also smelled burning.
I believe the cylinders are just below the electric step.

I don't know why you would install... much less use 1/2 dead batteries.
Very low voltage can cause all kind of weird problems, especially if a motor is trying to run and stalled. It could have been the low voltage messing w/ the electronics of the levelers causing them to activate,....then stall out.

Charge your batteries and see if it corrects the problem. I wouldn't try to run anything until they are fully charged.

Most folks don't realize that a 12 battery is considered dead when it's at 10VDC....and if you batteries were sitting all winter, and then you ADDED distilled water (diluting the electrolyte) you reduced their power even more.
You should always charge the batteries when you add water to them.
Most 12VDC electronic equipment will start to behave strangely when you are down below 10.5 VDC (which you may have been), so as strange as your coach's behavior was, it's probably not unheard of.
Charge the batteries!
Good luck

If it did, your batteries are toast. As the above stated, charge them before you install them. Hope you didn't mess up other components

1. You installed the batteries WRONG. Since you have 3 batteries, you either reversed some of the Positive and Negative cables or MISSED 1 cable that is not connected.
2. HWH Jacks CANNOT extend AT ALL without the pump running and 12 volt power to the 4 solenoids for those jacks. NO WAY! NO WAY at all.
3. Because you stated they did points to you miswiring your batteries since the system operated last fall before you pulled the batteries
4. DEAD or extremely low batteries will NOT cause a jack to extend. The fact that your slides moved slow points to either low batteries or miswired batteries.
5. Your complaint is a common one when people change or remove and disconnect Coach batteries. I would be a RICH man for every customer that calls with a similiar complaint and I tell him exactly what I just posted and they swear up and down they are positive that they connected correctly and did not miss a cable------They get the unit to me and I find exactly what I told him and rewire or install the loose cable. Take Doug's advice to the bank.
I replaced all 4 6-volt batteries some time back. Took the time to mark every cable end and took a picture of the hookup before the change. Everything went perfectly except my alternator no longer charged with engine running.
Turns out there was just one cable tucked away that I failed to hookup. Once done, everything worked perfectly again.

Okay. I took all three Deep Cycle batteries out and brought them to Advanced Auto for a testing. One battery was dead. I then went to NAPA to get a equivalent battery. Advance did not have it.
I then hooked up all three batteries up and I go to start the coach and nothing????
I ended up firing up the generator to start the coach. I wasn't expecting that one.
I looked again to see that all terminals were hooked up correctly and fastened securely.
So now I have everything running and the slides still will not go out. The HWH panel board will not turn on???The light is on the dash telling me that they are down when there not.
Did I blow a fuse or a relay possibly? If so, where would I look?

In addition to the above have the batteries load tested. Any chance they froze in the basement?
A fellow campers rig wouldn't start after he replaced the batteries. He was adamant that they were wired correctly. When he gave up he let me look and I found the unconnected cable.
OP, Good job on taking pics. Many times I've posted that advice. Have a friend check the wiring against the pic while you don't say a word.
