Even though I am kinda a Chevy guy, I would prefer an new F150 over the Chevy and here's why:
Anti-trailer sway control--nice deal for hauler TT's
Optional HD package (8200) GVWR almost the payload of a 3/4 ton...
Ecoboost option (awesome)
5.0 is really a sweet gem of a power house if you go that route or the 6.2
Interior is really comfortable including the ride
Never took the bailout...

I know that even though I am a chevy guy some may take the above wrong. I just rode in an F-150 2012 4X4 crew cab that my BIL owns and absolutly loved it. He has the 5.0 and that engine had power to pull... I dont know if this helped you or not, I am waiting for Chevy to step up their game on the new Silverado. If not then my next truck my be the Ford brand...gas of course...I really liked the HD package on the F150..Other manufactures need to take note of what Ford is doing...

Looking for some real world info on the towing and handling of the new Chevy 1500 5.3l with the 6-speed trans. Rated to tow 9500 with a grvw of 14000. To me seems a little much for a half ton. I am under those weights but dont want to invest 30k and be disappointed. My TT is 4800k and loaded is pushing 6000-6500. Still have to add what ever I'am loading in the truck. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

That will be plenty of truck ffor that weight of TT, and you will notice a huge difference in towing between the 1500, and the little Dodge.

however. You are the one you have to please. so if that dosen't do it for you. Go bigger.

You have the same truck as me. I tow a TT a littel heavier than yours, and have no problem. My only suggestion is to get the hang of grade-braking. it really comes in handy, but it takes some getting used to.

Happy Camping!

I wish I had kept my 2500HD while towing in a 30-40 mph crosswind today. The heavier truck is a plus in such situation, that and the much stiffer tires. Otherwise, my 2012 5.3 1500 does fine.
