I purchased a Brakemaster 9160 brake system to install in my Malibu.
The instructions say to locate the brake relay valve and tap into one
of the open ports. I contact frieghtliner to locate the brake
relay valve and they stated Frieghtliner does not supply a port to tap into
for supplemental air brake systems. They did tell me the brake relay
valve is located on the crossmember above the rear axle. Does anyone
have experience with connecting a brakemaster 9160 to a frieghtliner
chassis?
I don't have a Freightliner chassis, but a Spartan. However, my toad's supplemental system is similar.
I had a 9000 system installed on my toad and the installer at Tork Lift found a place to my coach's brakes to splice into to feed the toad's system. I can't tell you exactly where he spliced into the brake line or relay valve.
Personally, I'd take it to a place that installs these things on a regular basis and has people who know where to connect the air line to. Good luck.

The brake valve is exactly where Freightliner described it, but the fittings in the ports are EXTREMELY tight. Rather than fight with those I placed a T in the system at the air can outboard toward one of the rear wheels. Same air line, just tapping it at a different location. Just be sure it's in the service brake line, rather than the emergency brake line. You can tell by disconnecting the air line and having someone press the brake pedal. The service brake will blow air. One caution, however. Be sure your new air line is covered, well protected from hot areas and things that move, and SECURELY tied down. I used a large number of zip ties and made sure the line was high on the frame rails where a stray rock or road trash wouldn't hit it. I've installed an Air Force One on two different Freightliner chassis and have over 120,000 tow miles on the system.
