You will probably get more answers if you ask this in the "Fifth Wheels" forum.

My DH bought special clamps from the Porta-boat dealer. He attached them to the side of our 5er --- The boat clamps to the side on those clamps. Ours is a 12 footer, too. They cost almost $200. but they worked better than anything he could dream up.

That would be a simple solution, I will look into it

Maybe a wrack on the tow vehicle, you will need that to take the boat to water. Mine is on my towed ,Jeep,

Underneath works well bote is out of the way. I carry it there the entire camping season. getting underneath the rig and crawling around to store or remove the bote can be a pain, but I somehow manage to get through it.

If it will fit, underneath is the perfect place to carry it. My previous RV was a 38' Jayco 5th wheel. I mounted the side brackets underneath the 5'er towards the front. The front of the 12ft boat stuck out about 4 inches on the front end. Made it very easy to unlock the brackets and slide the boat out. I would always lay my carpet under the 5'er to slide the boat in position to put it in brackets or take it out. If you go this route, be sure to put locks on the bracket.
I now have a coach and carrying the folded boat in my long bed pickup toad, with the boat extending over the tailgate.
Have fun, you'll love the Porta-bote. By the way, you can find lots of mods for you boat in the Porta-bote forums. I've mounted a hard prow for trolling motor and anchor hoist. Also added swivel bass seat on my back seat.
