Between yesterday and today I drove from Myrtle beach SC to back home in Detroit, MI. In that time I lost 3 tires. The first one was a complete blowout on the last tire on the trailer on the driver side. I changed that one in Tennessee then continued on. Last night I stopped for fuel in southern Kentucky and blew out the outer dually on the driver side. Changed that and drove to southern Ohio where we stayed at walmart for the night. Getting on the road in the morning one of the tires was low on the trailer so I had the people at the tire and lube at walmart throw some air in it. About 25 miles up I-75 I blew out the front tire on the passenger side of the trailer. However, it wasn't just a blow out. It sheared all 6 studs off of the hub and my rim is no where to be found. The camper is at a service station down in Ohio while we wait on a replacement hub and bushings.

All that in less than a thousand miles? Is that just bad luck?

Sounds more like you're using Chinese built tires to me When one blows the others are not far behind. Could just as easily have blown up while mounted on the spare tire rack. I've SEEN that happen two times.

Sorry for your problems. No it isn't normal. My guess is Chinese tires. For rim that sheared off, probably ex hamburg flipper used an impact wrench because the torque wrench confused him.

What brand and how many miles did you have on the trailer tires?

You beat my record of 2 in 30 minutes...I now have 17.5" wheels and H rated tires! Good luck in your repairs!

You shouldn't need a new hub. Just drive whats left of the studs out the back, then hammer the new ones in as far as you can. At that point you can get the new tire and rim in place and just keep going around torquing them till they are all at 100# (if you have 1/2" studs) and your good to go. You will need to check them every 50 miles or so till they seem settled in. I lost 2 tires and wheel last year, so I know exactly how to do it. BTW new studs are only about $2 a piece. I now carry an extra set.

BTW I was amazed that when the trooper stopped to see if everything was ok and I showed him where the wheels were missing, he never blinked. He said he sees that happen all the time. Scary isn't it.

Had a friend who had something similar happen and realized his MorRyde equalizer had failed and the wheels where twisting while going down the road, placing unnatural stress on the tires. Check your suspension, might be the problem.

While that may be true for the OP, I am convinced someone loosened the nuts on mine as I usually keep a close eye on the running gear. And even more so now. I was also amazed that when the 2 tires left town that the fifth wheel hitch actually held the weight so that neither axle hub touched the ground.

ST tires?

If so, not surprised.
On a 2 axle trailer, when 1 tire blows, the other tire takes all of the weight for a short amount of time.
I have read that when you blow 1 tire, the other tire should be replaced due to it being overloaded for an amount of time.
On a triple axle trailer, same idea, but obviously you have 2 other tires to split the weight between.
