Well finally got it done. My Travel trailer came with a big hole between the living room and bedroom for a Tv. Didn't want to just plop a Tv down and be done. So this is what I came up with.

Started by measuring and making a cabinet that fit the opening and fit the Tv.

I bought and attached a 6x6 inch boat seat swivel for the base of it

Test fit the Tv.

Had to make openings for the DVD player and controls.

Flat panel mount was attached to the Tv and then to 2 vertical uprights that will secure it in the cabinet.

3 holes in the top. 2 outer ones for power wire and signal cables. Center one is for a bolt that runs up to stabilize it and a pivot point.

All stained and ready to install. (I hate staining with a passion)

All installed and wired up.

All the wires run up out the top and down either side. The wires all held in place with plastic clips.

Hope it inspires others to do the same.

Thanks for the post I have been thinking about how to make a swivel base for our TV. I was thinking
a lazy susan base but your boat seat swivel is heavier and will work great thanks for the idea.

Yeah the boat seat swivel worked great. Has alot of resistance so it doesnt free spin. Its also only 3/4" thick so very low profile.

Thanks everyone. It was a project but did it all with basic tools. Table saw, miter saw and a hand miter box. Lots of sanding to smooth it out and make all seams line up nice. All made out of pine so easy to work with. If I wasn't so impatient it would have come out nicer. Some up close blemishes that I dont like.

The lower opening has all the cables and power run to it. We take our Direct Tv box with us where ever we go. So its all plug and play.

Finished up part of this mod tonight. Because of the wires coming out of the top the unit can only rotate one direction back and forth or it will stretch the wires. So I had to put a couple stops in.
One on each side of the stationary part of the cabinet.

And one, on one side of the rotating part of the tv mount.

This allows the unit to only swivel one way so the wires dont bind on top.

Second thing I did was install a pin to hold it from rotating during transportation and to keep the kids from playing with it. I drilled a hole in the upper cabinet down into the end of the rotating unit.

All done with this project. Time to start another.
