Looking at going to the Rally in Louisville in June. It will be the first and was looking at the registration. You can register for a 30amp site or a site with no hookups at all. My question is, what are the rules for running the generator. My only concern is really that I'd like to be able to run the A/C if necessary. Other than that I don't think the hookups would be a big deal.

If anyone has been to prior GS rallys and has insight into this it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, you can run your genset when needed.
Be considerate to your neighbors. If you have a noisy one them may complain.
I would not run the genset all night as it does cool down. Run it to get rig comfortable then shut down around 10 PM. Most will be at the evening programs so it won't bother them. Start again around 7 AM and you should have no problems.

We went to the Rally in Louisville a couple of years ago. All the rvs with no hook ups were in a lot together. Normally they do have quiet hours..no generators after 10 or 11pm but that summer it was so hot they let you run it all night for the a/c. It was an awesome rally....you need to go on some of the excursions! There is a lot to do and see in Louisville.

Get a 30 amp site and chill out.

Hi,

Remember that your neighbor will not be to far away from you, and will also have a generator running, and it's exhaust will typically be pointed out the drivers side someplace, into your awning area. They typically don't park the RV's more than about 12' apart, sometimes as close as 10' apart. So there might be barely room to put out the awning.

The 30 amp site is looking better and better, especially if it is hot and humid, and everyone wants to run the A/C all night. You might have to put a lot of hours on your generator if it is hot and humid.

To be courteous if you run the generator you should have a Genturi? generator stack to move the exhaust up over the RV.

We just went to the rally in Phoenix. It was hot. There were posted "quiet times."

We didn't really notice the generators (much). The neighbor on one side had a diesel and it was noisy and stinky. But, that's life amongst the "non electric" sites! We ran ours when we had to. Left the windows open a lot for the breeze. Sought a lot of shade.

We didn't find the generators troublesome.

Go and enjoy.

Bob

PS The difference in price for electric or non-electric seemed VERY high to us.

That's what we did in 2010 while at "The Rally" in Louisville and glad of it.

Go to the Ralley web site. The rules are stated about the quiet hours. I would suggest signing up for the power sites.
