FWIW, I get testy in short order if someone presumes to stick their nose in my business and I saw nothing in your question to offend me. But when I worked and camped weekends, when I left was based on how long a drive home and what tasks I had to do to reorganize for the coming week. Then, too, I tried to avoid coming back in late afternoon or early evening, a traffic nightmare in my area. More often than not I wasn’t in a cg with checkout times so that was rarely a factor.
Since I retired I don’t camp weekends locally, just too busy for my taste. If I leave early I’m going somewhere.
""One of the things DW and I spoke of often was "how nice it is to be retired so we can sit and WATCH everyone scurry around to leave on Sunday". All of this while we can stay as long as we want""
Yep...me too. No dump line up on Mondays, less traffic, easier fueling.
Not offended either....all the stuff people write about is what we used to do too...when we worked. More fun just watching them leave on Sunday...early, late, whenever.
Sure is quiet today...actully hear the birds and breeze through the trees.
Looking forward to Friday when we can watch eveyone arrive....folks with brand new tents are fun, especially after dark, the new rig folks with no mirrors, the unloading of the little pink bikes, etc.
All just part of the dance.... all good, some shows just better than others.
Camp on however you do it....it all beats work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked to be packed and ready to pull out by 11 or 12. Can't stand all the work of tearing down on the heat of the day. If i sweat excessivly, my camping trip is ruined. :-)
We leave early too! the reason is......and don`t get crazy, but we do have jobs as amazing as that sounds. we usually pull out around 10:00, we usually have a 1,2 or 3 hour drive. though the main reason is I like to get home early, unpack the trailer and then jump in our pool with the kids and relax the rest of the day. if I stayed untill check out I wouldn`t be home untill 7 at the latest. I don`t do much with the trailer when we get home except remove the food and clothes. I leave the cleaning for the week.
It baffles me why most people stay untill check out and waste a whole afternoon/evening driving home/unpacking then just going right to bed!

A bad day of camping is
better than a good day at work!

One thing I liked about my small camper, part of the time when I camp the bath houses have parking in front of them, so after packing up and pulling out, I simply drive the truck and camper up and park by the bath house to take a departure shower before driving on down the road, thus I have vacated the site for the next person, can sweat all I want getting thing's ready to go and be refreshed for the drive.

I wondered the very same thing too. Found myself packing up early a few times. I am obsessed with the relaxation I get from camping. It used to pain me to realize all the work ahead of me when waking up on a beautiful Sunday morning.
So we became summer seasonals. Problem solved! No more packing up, rushing off, draining tanks. Sure, we have to go to work on Monday morning too, but we're less than 1/2 hour from home and can decide at the last minute to stay another night or two. We keep work clothes in the camper for this purpose.
We are thoroughly enjoying the flexibility of staying in one spot!!

Many of my trips are only a few miles from home. I still start packing early as I have to get it all packed, then drive home and unpack. everything in the trailer (bathroom, counters, floors, remake beds etc.) Then dump the tanks (have to turn the trailer around for this). I then have to get back in the TV and pull the trailer to storage, and unhitch. I then have to drive back home and take a shower.
If I leave the campground around 10 I'll be done by about 3 and get to finally relax.
Oh and I'm not offended by your question.

We used hang out in camp until just before checkout... But, after about 6 years of doing that, we decided to try just leaving in the morning of the our checkout day. We got home by early afternoon, was able to get the trailer put away and unload the fridge and get most everything taken care of and it was still light outside!
Then, I'd sit on my back porch with a beer and relaxing before having to face the dreaded WORK call in the morning..
What we found is that we really couldn't 'do' anything on that last day anyway... Except get ready to leave and pack up the camp.
Check out time in our State Parks is between 11 am and Noon for the most part... So, when we leave by around 9 am it's just as well. We'd leave at that time now, even if we could stay until 2pm even!
For me anyway, I get much more relaxation and enjoyment out of my long RV weekend when I can get home on that last day with time to actually RELAX..
My wife had a co-worker who would wait till the last second to leave anyplace or to get back from even a long 2 week vacation, with having to go to work the next day.... My wife said all this gal would do is say how 'tired' she was and talk all day about her trip... She never got anything done and my wife would have to fill in for her, just like she did when she was gone!
Anyway, it's what works for me and makes my long camping weekend enjoyable before I've got to get back to reality!

We use the now empty pool at the CG
Work or school runs Monday thru Friday. It should be that way for the chores around the house also. When we pull out, everything is done. House clean, yard mowed, etc. We get home Sunday pm, leave the fridge on and unpack the perishables and laundry Monday after work/ school. Fresh food and clothes put in Thursday PM, then the cycle continues, and gets shorter when I work Saturdays.
