I am having all graphics replaced (Montana paid) on my 2008 Montana 2955RL due to graphics peeling off. The problem is the mixed results you hear for caring for the new graphics. One dealer says definitely wax, another says NEVER wax just apply 303 Aerospace. Anybody out there have a good answer to this oft debated topic. I searched forums and got no results.

No need to post about just getting rid of graphics, wife told me NO!

Problem I have seen with 303 is that it comes off in the rain from what I have read. Another option is what I do is Turtle Wax Ice Polish. It does not contain Petroleum Distillates. Most waxes use Petroleum Distillates which can harm vinyl graphics. Turtle Wax Ice is one of the few things you can use on metal, Gel Coat, Fiberglass, rubber and Vinyl.

Have the graphics painted on and clear coated....

Or don't replace them. Lately I've seen a lot of naked RV's (no graphics) seems to be a trend.

Hugh debate on this subject. Problem is you will be getting the exact same garbage as was originally on there. So don't expect them to last any better than what you have.
Having said that, the fella who replaced my graphics last summer told me to wax the heck out of them. Will not hurt. And he is a professional.

I've waxed the heck out of my graphics and the only one that has curled or gone bad is the one that faces the sun everyday. The others are protected and still look like new 8 years later. I'm convinced the sun does all of the damage to stickers.

Our Keystone Montana dealer told us a few years back the graphics coming or falling off have been a problem for those units. especially when they sit in the sun, they are going to fade or peel off'

303 Aerospace actually enters or "soaks into" the rubber/vinyl and plastic...so if it rains and washed the 303 on the surface off...it's still there and doing it's protective work!

AND Turtle Wax Ice does indeed contain Vinyl Damaging Petroleum Distillated Products....13% as a matter of fact.

"Turtle Wax Ice Liquid
Federal Material Safety Data Sheet Info

POSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
COMPONENT CAS NUMBER CONCENTRATION (wt %)
Petroleum Distillates 8052-41-3 1-3%<-------
(Stoddard Solvent)<--------
Petroleum Distillates 64742-47-8 2-5% <--------
(Hydrotreated Light Distillate Solvent)<--------
Cyclopenta Siloxane 541-02-6 2-5% <-------
(Volatile Silicone D-5)"

Use only 303 Aerospace or Protect All on the vinyl, Petroleum distillates (and Silicone Products) are refered to by all vinyl graphic manufacturers such as 3M...as something that removes the natural Plasticizers added to the vinyl when made, which normally keeps the vinyl from drying out, cracking, curling up, and fading.

The petroleum products also caused the adhesive backing to fail, and good-by vinyl graphics!

303 is like a SPF 30 sun screen on the vinyl, virtually eliminating UV damage and fade. Use it on vinyl trim, rubber and painted surfaces too. The MSDS for 303 Aerospace states no harmful ingredients or Petroleum products.

My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.

i know its not an option for many, but indoor storage of the rv is best. Since building my garage a few years back, our new 5er looks as good or better than the day i brought it home. I also use 303 however.

I can only speak from my experience with 303. Started using it in 1993 on pervious motorhome with exelent results. All graphics and roof were in great shape whin we sold it in 2009. I am one that uses it on everything from the roof to the tires. The UV protection rating is SPF 40.

Wax or no wax, won't make much difference. Those facing the sun peel and split, those not, last longer. Cheap vinyl which is what most of the manufacturers supply has a very short life - 2 to 5 years, Good quality vinyl, used by none of them, will last about ten years before showing its age.
