Seems as if every MH out there gets about 6-10 MPG. Oh sure, there are those Sprinter diesels, but that is an exception. Anything on a truck chassis that has more than 20K pounds is going to get in that range.

Bigger coaches have more engine, which helps it get down the road more efficiently, but still uses that 7-8 mpgs and the smaller ones have smaller engines, which have to work harder.....

Diesel will usually get better mileage than the gasser, but gas is less expensive than diesel right now, so it may cost more to drive the diesel, even with better mileage

Don't worry to much about it.....figure about 5 mpgs on your trip calculations, and you'll be fine.....even have a few bucks left over at the end.

Happy Camping

Wow, at 8 mpg @ $4 gas, a 1000 mile trip (2000 round trip) would cost $1,000 in gas alone!

Sorry, I know there are a lot of gripes, but this is getting ridiculous.

And if it went down to $3 / gal it would still cost you $750, so the real question is , would you give the trip up for $250 - not me!

What kind of mileage should I expect to get with a 34 ft Monaco with 300HP Cummins? THks...Al
Expect a little less than the average of what people claim they have gotten.

Cummins 5.9L with Banks Stinger (290hp according to Banks) and we have averaged 10.5mpg over the last 800 miles towing a 2004 Kia Optima on a dolly. Most of it in the PNW going into the Cascades cross country skiing. Generally about 60mph speed (2200 RPM). Would probably get a little better with a 6-speed Allison but we have the 4-speed.

We just took our first 500 mile trip in the 40' DP with Cummins ISC 350 engine towing a Honda Accord driving 60MPH and got 9 MPG. That's better than I had expected.

I've heard other people say "If you have to worry about mileage you don't belong in a motor home"...food for thought...IMHO, of course

When we bought our MH my DW asked the same question as were were getting an avg of 8.6 mpg over 40,000 miles of towing our TT with a Toyota tundra and before that a Jeep GC. It was interesting that no matter what TV or TT we had it always avg ~8.5. My comment to her was if the MH got roughly the same MPG I would be content.

So far the avg has been 8.6 over 3,000 miles and according to the silverleaf the MH has avg 8.6 since it was new 53,000 miles ago.

Reckon that's a pretty good budget point. I can boost that to 10ish by slowing down to 55 if I so choose.

Pull a toad. For roughly the same amount of fuel, you are getting TWO vehicles from point A to B, thus doubling your mileage.

I've heard other people make that same comment and I think to myself they are very stupid for verbalizing that. Just because someone asks a MPG question doesn't mean they are "worried". Further, everyone should know exactly what economy their RV returns as a variation might mean a problem is brewing.
