Heading to Lake Catherine on Sunday from Eisenhower State Park in Dennison, TX. Taking 82 to I30. Any good recommendations for easy/RV friendly gas stations? We've never filled the truck with gas when hooked to the RV. A little nervous we'll get caught in a comical situation. (Comical for onlookers- not us!!)

Just look them over before pulling in. Never found an unfriendly gas station yet

I meant friendly as in easy on/easy off. Trying to avoid pulling off the highway a bunch of times.

We just got a book "Next Exit" from Amazon for $12. List what is at each exit and the RV friendly places are in red.

We have had our 30 foot trailer since last June and just look for places that we know we can get in and out of for diesel. Just fill up when you are at 1/4 tank.

You are over-thinking this whole thing - just relax and enjoy!!

There is a Flying J Truck Stop on I-30 in Arkansas exit 7 which is about half way between Denison TX and Hot Springs. You will connect with I-30 from US82 near Boston/New Boston TX. There is a nice little campground US67 west of Texarkana if you want to stop for the night. Paved, long pull thrus.

Usually when we are at 1/2 tank...we start "looking" for an easy on/off gas station. If we see one, great, we top off the tank. If not we still have plenty of gas till we get to one.

Just take your time and don't cut into the pump too close. This is just our routine but to be on the safe side I stand outside and watch hubby pull out so I can alert him if he is too close to a cement post or anything unless we are in a straight pull out lane.

Eventually you will get more comfortable with it.

Have fun and give us all a trip report with pics! We are thinking about heading up to Hot Springs in the Fall.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Jennifer handles the posting mostly. But what she meant was her husband is being a baby. Yeah I know this isn't a real big rig but it's still pretty big for me. I'm sure after I do it a couple of times I will be fine. But I am an engineer by trade and I think I will be over-analyzing this until that time. Oh well.

I am trying to find a decent one on the way that I can plan ahead with some gas to spare. Will check out that Flying J - thanks.

Just a side question. A lot of these bigger gas stations will have a regular set of pumps and then the big stalls where the semis go. Do we generally use these bigger ones? Or are they diesel and semi only generally?

Thanks again for all the insight. Hopefully we can start to be more helpful as we get some of these trips under our belt.

JenniferandJosh...I just returned from Lake Catherine State Park. You will exit off I-30 at exit #97 and follow the road to the park. Just before you get there you will see a Texaco station on right just across from Diamonhead Golf Course. I filled there....easy in and out...Enjoy the state park...
