I have a 2001 Ford Sport Trac that I tow a 22QBS Apex by Coachmen. It tows fine but we neve have been on long trips. We mainly go 1 - 3 hrs in travel time. I do plan on upgrading to a Ford F150 just because truck in 11 years old and its time for a new truck! No real problems with sway or towing.

Use a 2003 Toyota Tacoma 2WD, 2.4L four cylinder with 5 speed manual transmission. Get 17MPG towing a 1400lb CampLite 11RD and hauling camping gear, Kayaks, with two people on board. Probably hauling a combined total of 2000lbs with camper, gear, and passengers.

Best fuel economy with the Tacoma "unloaded & not towing anything", on the interstate @ 65MPH is 30MPG.

I tow a Lance 1575 that weighs 3200 loaded with a 4.0 Ranger 4x4.
It is a pretty good combination.

Nice to see another Ranger on here....
What tongue weight do you run?

Do you use a Weight distribution hitch?
I don't and have had no issues running a 400lb tongue at times, although I should be running at 350lb all the time.

I just joined the forum.I have a 2009 Ford Ranger Sport 4x4.This weekend I will trading my 17 foot Jayco Kiwi with a dry weight of 2657lbs for a 22.5 ft R Vision Trail Sport at 2903lbs.Not anticipating problems as the truck is supposed to be good for 5600lbs.

Hi Folks - we have a 2002 Nissan Frontier 4x4 rated to pull 5000 lbs. We're looking to get out of our Class C due to its age, and want to get into something we can pull with the above-referenced truck.

What do you have? How long? What make and model and year? The newer the better for obvious reasons, and a slide is preferable.
Did you have to modify the truck at all? Any pointers and tips are appreciated.

Thank you!

Didn't you know that anything less than a 1 ton diesel dually is a small truck? Everybody here is towing with a truck that's to small unless your one of the special few that have a 1 ton diesel dually.

I tow a '74 Prowler 18.5 that was under 4000lbs with a 2001 Ranger 3.0 V6 auto ext cab rated to tow about 4000lbs. It has towed just fine, no over heating or weird handling. I put coil over shocks and electronic brake controller to be on the safe side. May get an anti-sway bar.
I've gutted the trailer due to past water leaks before I got it in 2007. Trying to make it lighter and more modern.
New liquid epdm roof and no leaks! Yay!

I tow my '81 Sunline 17.5SB with my 03 Tundra. My Tundra has a small V8 and the Sunny weighs about 3500 loaded so not too bad at all.
