Just upgraded from a Hybrid Roo weighing about 4000 pounds unloaded to a Bullet 281 BHS weighing about 5100 pounds unloaded. Our tow vehicle is a Toyota Sequoia with a weight limit of 6500 pounds. Great towing experience so far with a smoother ride than what we had with the Roo. I'm just getting started with the Bullet but so far I'd highly recommend the wide stance axle system it and many other TT's have based on our experience. I researched the design vs rubber-ride, almost to death, and I'm impressed with it. We did some test towing with our dealer before our purchase, including full propane tanks/battery/water tank. The dealership owner was very accommodating.

We're staying within our State of MN this year as we test our tow vehicle and the new TT. May upgrade to a Hensley Arrow hitch later on. Right now I've got dual sway bars and the Pro series weight distribution. Last resort is a TV upgrade. Hoping to wait on that for a few years as our current Sequoia is paid for and is in superb shape with low miles. We get decent gas mileage when not towing, usually 18-20 on the highway, so I'd like to stay on the smaller TV end of the spectrum.

I tow with the 2004 Nissan Frontier 4x4 crew cab 5 speed. I have a 23' trailer, have not done too much towing yet since I bought it just before the snow flew in the fall. It towed the trailer well. I have not modified the truck.

I am towing a 19' coachmen catalina at around 3500 lb with a 97 Ford F150 4.6l v8 5 speed. There are some vicious hills around but the truck does pretty good. I feel strange saying my truck is small as a drove a wrangler for years, but Ford no longer makes the ranger... this means the f150 is the smallest truck they make. I think there are smaller trucks on the market but last week I sat a redlight next to a new Tacoma. Realized my truck is now the size of most smaller trucks.

19 foot funfinder ( 189FDS ) with a '06 Frontier 4WD CC 6 speed manual. Trailer weighs 3600 to 3800 depending on what my trip itinerary is. Combo works well together, avg mpg on recent trip was 13.0.
In my opinion on a rig like this, you need a good weight distribution hitch, with anti sway ( I use a BlueOx ), and you need new, high quality shocks on the back of the truck. And a properly set up brake controller. I have towed in horribly windy conditions....crosswinds, quartering winds, etc, and this combination felt safe and controllable.

I really don't know the weight of our TT, it's an 77 road ranger KIT camper???
We have been stripping it and rebuilding it here
It should be a few hundred lbs lighter....

I know the floor is 16' but a few feet up the wall where the front and rear poke out it get to 18', 21' 6" from bumper to bumper.

Anyhow I'm in a 05 x-cab Tundra, it only differs from yours in small ways that shouldn't matter in this situation....


I guess I know how we'll tow now, w/o actually towing.....

Hi, this is my first post here. We have a 2011 Keystone Passport 2590bh, it's dry weight is 4893 lbs and it is 29'10" total length. I pull it with a 2010 Nissan Frontier, with the towing package, which has a Max towing of 6500 lbs. It does a really good job, rarely go above 2500 rpm's with normal driving.

I tow a 2012 SPORTSMAN CLASSIC 240 with a 2011 Ford Ranger Sport, TT weighs 3470 mt and I can throw another 1000 pounds of stuff in the camper, i also use a wd distributing hitch and my truck doesn't even sag really and has no problems at all..

I have a 99 Toyota Tacoma 5spd with a 3.4L V6. I'm pulling a 2007 Fleetwood Pioneer Spirit - 18CK? It's 22'2" from tongue to tail and weighs about 4400lbs loaded. Truck is rated to 5000lbs. I don't get anywhere fast and my gas mileage sucks but its not that bad a drive despite being near the limits. I'm using a Reese dual cam setup which is nice but I would definitely not go any bigger.

I pull a Rockwood 2306 with a Honda Ridgeline. The 2306 weighs 4200lbs loaded and is 23' long. I use an Equal-i-zer WDH. I live in Colorado and so far have only pulled the trailer along the front range (5000'-6000') altitude.

The truck "handles" the trailer really well -- no sway or other control issues. The engine, on the other hand, is definitely working. I can hold 60mph just fine on the flats, but any kind of hill drops me down a gear or two and the revs jump to 3000-4000rpm. On the bigger hills, I drop down to 40mph. Going up the mountain passes, I expect I'll be closer to 35mph.

That said, I'm okay with working the engine that hard. Time will tell if it causes any problems, but so far it's been fine. However, if the Ridgeline died tomorrow I'd buy a bigger truck (Ram 1500, Titan, etc) and not look back.
