I'm not 1,000 LBS but the new bed end doesn't seem as heavy as the
original. (its from Forest River so I guess I have to trust them) If it ever fails I'll wake up in the sand. Thanks for you answers and happy camping!

Sleep on the back bunk, you don't want to wake up on the propane tanks or any part of the hitch!

Good idea I will think about sleeping up front and at the worst case, land in
sand and not with a propane tank in a place it don't belong....Thanks to all!

does your bed use cable supports or pole supports?
the new replacement may be engineered for cable supports but not sure if they were engineered different than those using poles.

I had a Jayco Kiwi for my first camper. Our very first trip out with this camper and I was in the back bed. I am a big guy and got out on the very end of the bed and was tossing and turning. Kind of bouncing it and collapsed it. I fell out the back in about 35 degree weather and raining. I was sleeping with my dog and only in my underweat. We were on a slope and the dog and I rolled about 15 feet down this hill in the mud. We laugh about it today, but it was not funny at the time. When we went to pull out, my truck wouldn't start and I had to be towed. Our first camping trip cost us about $3000 in repairs.
