I like that plastic cap blocking the manual jack holes! Wish I had those.

So far: keeping our jack rust to just about nil by waxing 2 times a season, and re-painting the minor rust spots. Our rig (and jacks) are just about 7 years old (no rebuild needed yet).

I just injected some lithium grease (with grease injector) into the top gear section of the four jacks 2 days ago on getting rig out of storage.

I wish mine looked as good as yours! Yep, things rust and sometimes maintenance is necessary. I like your response of wanting to find a way of maintaining these jacks. If you don't take the Camper off the truck, when traveling, consider removing them.

I ordered a part from the company and they sent me the part and a set of those covers free. I didn't ask for the cover or even know they existed. I bet if you contacted them they would send you a set.

I would be concerned with the rust I could not see, especially on the welds. If you see rust in front of the weld, do you not think there is rust under the Angle on the part of the weld you cannot see? Usually it is just a cosmetic issue, but not always. Without disassemble, I don't know how you could remove the rust you cannot see. I do not have Happy Jacks. If new, or no rust, I would consider a little calk on that edge and top. I would leave the bottom open.

I have very limited knowledge on powder coat, but from what I understand it is a good product. I think the problems come in if the metal is not prepared properly, before coating. I have seen many people paint over rust. The rust is still there getting worse.

Yep... mine look worse than that now...look at the tear down link and you could have them stripped an re-done. I'm thinking of having mine done in LINEX... stuff is tuff as nails....and they could do white if I'm not mistaken. The front edges have just been pelted from road rocks...going to look into that right now. Has any one ever done that yet???

Here is a shot of mine in white Line-X.

Exactly my thoughts. It's the metal behind the weld that you can't get to that's bugging me. Fixing the outside is no big deal, but that rust inside will just keep growing again.

silverbullet02, that was my point. I think of it the same as dry rot. Pretty outside, rotten on the inside.

Yep, so that brings me back around to the original question. I wonder if there's anything I can spray in there or pour in the cracks to stop or even slow down the rust inside.

On a side note, that is pretty cool with the white line-x on the outside! How easily to bugs come off of it? I know that it's bad enough sometimes getting the bugs off of my smooth powdercoat finish.
