I have a direct tv receiver from my home zip code, was wondering if I can go into the set up site, change the zip code to where I am camping and then change back to the old zip code later on.

Thank you

Yep, sure can. If you are more than 150 miles or so away from your home zipcode, you will not be able to get your local channels, but can get the rest of them. Use your antenna for some locals to where you are.

When you go online, you will see a billing address (where your home is and where the bills come to) and a service address. The service address is where you are parked, that's what you change. As I move around the country, I change the service address to obtain the local channels and get a signal.

The dish may need to receive signal from two satellites to get locals.

I see you are from Colorado. Our locals are the Denver channels. We can get the locals as far away as Moab, UT. That's about 400 miles driving. Don't really know how far as a bird flies. So if they are Denver locals you should get them a little farther than 150 miles.

You only put Zip Code info to get azimuth & elvation. OP said nothing about locals. JMO

You absolutely can however, you should understand that only the pointing instructions change so that you know where to point the dish. The zipcode setting in the receiver has absolutely nothing to do with what channels you receive or what time zone you are in.

Yes you can. Should be able to receive Denver channels as far south as Albuquerque, as far north as Rapid City, west to Moab, can't say about east.
the zip code you put into the receiver is just for aiming your portable antenna, you do not have to change your billing address nor the address you are located. They do not know where you are.

In reply to: JoeGood988, I just went online to the DirecTV website into my account and there is a billing address and an "installation address". There is no way to change the installation address without calling DirecTV and initiating a move. There is a "Move?" button underneath the installation address. When you press the button, the instructions say to call DirecTV. Can you tell us where the service address is located and how to change it? thanks

The zip code only tells you where to point the dish, nothing more. Once you are out of your local area spot beam call DTV with a new address and they will connect you to new local channels. Your billing address will not change.

JoeGood988, If there is a DTV service address online please provide more information.
