Getting new 34' Motorhome and GF wants to camp and fish.
Haven't fished in YEARS. Would like somewhere scenic,
hopefully can can on Lake, and just want to wet a line from
shore and hopefully catch our dinner??????????
Any ideas from folks that have been there?
Don't mind dry camping and want to have campfires at night
since it's been 5 years since we had a MH.
Thanks

The campgrounds in the Mammoth Lakes area are great -- it is not boondocking, but it is dry camping, and the fishing is wonderful. We really like Coldwater, although it is not right on the lake. The roads in all of those campgrounds can get tight for a big rig -- move carefully and watch out for overhead branches. Bring plenty of DEET -- the fishing is good precisely because the fish gorge on those delicious mosquito larvae. And bring sunscreen and a hat -- the sun is powerful at 9000 feet!

Checkout McGee Creek RV park, trust me nightgrawlers and you'll have dinner right now. Creek flows right through the park and they provide all the firewood you want.

Ive stayed at Twin Lakes in Mammoth on several occassions with my 37' MH and toad....with that being said, there are not that many sites to accomdate larger rigs but the Lake is Right there. Sherwin Creek has some larger spots and again the creek runs through the CG. You could mosey on down to the June Lake loop and many of the CG's there are close to the Lakes or Creeks that flow between them.
