Hi all. Some time ago there was a post on using a material that bonded with old wood to make it strong again. It was in reference to cab-over repairs. I lost the link. Can anyone help?

Rot Doctor's one I've used.
Git-Rot is more common in retail outlets, but the RD products seem more effective. But heed their advice to use respirator/ventilation.

Git Rot and Rot Doctor are both epoxy formulations. Check on any 2 part epoxy resins. Raka,West System, or System 3 come to mind. You can buy 2 part epoxy resin much less expensive than speciality products.

Mix and thin the resin with denatured alcohol, warm the wood with a heat gun and apply the mixture liberally. Multipe coats are recommended. In bad situations I have even applied fiberglass cloth as a reinforcement. The cloth is available from the same people that sell the epoxy.

NOTE: it's important to use EPOXY and not polyester resin.

one other thing. epoxy will bond to polyester, but polyester will not bond to epoxy.
