Is there such a thing as a book of all NF maps and CG's?
Or a cd?
Thanks

The National Forest maps that I have seen do not get updated very often.
Also I the Trails Illustrated/National Geographic maps are not updated very often. I have some of their maps from the late 1980s and early 1990s and they are as accurate as their current editions. The only difference in their current editions is they have more color.
In one area of Summit County there has been major changes in a area I know well. These changes were made in 1990 and 1994. The Trails Illustrated maps do not show any of these changes.
One brand of maps covering Colorado that are much more accurate is the Latitude 40 brand of maps.
Starting this spring, for Forest Service roads and trails you need to get the MVUM - Motor Vehicle Use Map. It is a black and white map and you can get them at any Forest Service office for that area. They are free. They may also be found on line. I don't know what other states other than Colorado use them. But they are considered the current bible. No matter what the other Forest Service maps show if you don't follow the restrictions of the MVUM you may be ticketed.
Take a look at U.S. Campgrounds. It's a pretty comprehensive listing of all Federal/State/City&County parks. Make a note of the Legend at the bottom of the page. Drag the Google map to the area of interest and zoom in if necessary. The parks will show up like a pin map. The right hand column will list the parks showing on the map. Clicking on an individual park in that column will offer you a corresponding webpage with further information about the park. It's about all I use today besides Passport America on rare occasions.
We have found this to be a very good reference. We rely on it for finding places for our 40' motorhome!

That's the one we use. It lists every public campground out there (incl. forest service, BLM, COE etc.) and size-limits too! Awesome resource!

I don't know. I'm sure some have been missed. Or maybe there just aren't any in the area. My problem is, I don't have the 31 years left on this earth that it would take to visit each campground listed for just one night. So, I have to stay kind of focused on the donut and not the hole. If you are aware of one that's not listed, please email the administrator of the website.

I travel 6 months out of the year and stay in mostly USFS and BLM campgrounds. I have stayed in a few that are not on the U.S. Campgrounds list. When I notified the site manager of their coordinates, he acknowledged that some of the smaller ones (e.g. 5 sites) are not yet in his database.
However, it's still a GREAT site and I use it extensively every year.
