The KOA in El Reno, Oklahoma did the same thing to us in December! That's why I prefer to stay at state parks.

I can see a $10 or $20 dollar cancellation fee, maybe even giving up a full day fee at the extreme high end, but to keep the whole reservation after lees than a day......don`t think so. keep on it and find a better place!

Horrible customer service and I agree that they should get a poor review online (note: I tried this on rvparkreviews.com once and it wasn't accepted since we didn't actually stay at the park????)
Not trying to be mean to the OP but...Assuming you told the credit card company that you gave them the credit card and you didn't ask about the cancelation penalty, I don't know why they allow the dispute to go thru. The fact that you didn't ask about the cancelation penalties isn't the parks fault. Are they supposed to keep you on the phone for an hour going over each and every detail of thier rental contract? They posted it online.

Vent all you want but you screwed up. Always check on cancellation policies. Many campgrounds (and motels) have 24 hr limits for cancellation; some do not make refunds, including most national parks.

*** UPDATE !! *****
Thanks to all who listened , the card company refunded all our money. Even though it said on the website NO REFUNDS , since we booked over the phone and did not read the website we were entitled to our money back. They admited that they do not tell all the customers and that is why it is on the website.... Joe

Glad you got your refund, and thanks for the post. A gentle reminder for all of us to ask about cancellation at the time of making our reservations. Happy camping!!

Do you still hunt your dinner with clubs and stones, too?

If they had used cash instead of a credit card, they would need those clubs and stones to have a chance at getting their money back.
