We are purchasing a new trailer and are trying to decide between The KZ sportsman 24bhs or the keystone hideout 24bh. We recently got rid of our old leaky trailer hence buying new, don't want anyone elses problem. Would love something bigger but aint got the cash. Also my wife wants the u shaped dinenet and a sink in the bathroom, and not to many models seem to have both. There is a trailer show this weekend and we were thinking of getting it then. That is another question when is the best time to get the best deal. Thanks

You are correct, when you buy new, all the problems belong to you first. The shows are a great time to look and the prices tend to be good as well. With that said, you still need to research and negotiate. Good luck and have fun.

The best time to buy is when the dealer's inventory is high and they're nervous.

We bought our 2009 in the middle of summer and got a good deal in the peak season because the dealer wasn't moving a lot of trailers.

We recently purchased the KZ Sportsmen 242SBH "Showstopper" which I believe is the one you are referring to. The build quality is pretty good, only problem we noticed is a peeling decal and one of the storage doors missing some caulking.

We were in the same situation, she wanted the sink in the bathroom and a u-dinette, I wanted something light and affordable. We got the unit for a reasonable price for being brand new($14000).

Might think about dropping into the lot of the Sportsman Dealer....do a walk thru, ask a lot of questions, but don't show an eagerness. Since you know the one you are interested in, but he don't, see what offer he will make it you bought it. Oftentimes you can get a Dealer right before a show and he will want to sell rather than haul it to the show. Safe travels.

Between the two, you can do a side by side comparison of amenities, space, tank size and weights. Compare the weights to your TV's payload and GCWR. Pay attention to tongue weight on these (remember no-one hauls an empty or dry trailer so those trailer weight and tongue weights are useless #'s). Also try sitting in the two TT's with the whole family and the doors closed. Act out your daily activities (ie mom cooking, dad watching TV, walking to bathroom, and kids playing), think about space, where will everything go (ie mom's clothes in that cabinet, kids toys in this drawer and pots/pans in this cabintet etc). This will help you get the TT that is the right one for you. Happy hunting.
