Hello all, has anyone replaced bearings in the motor of their SHURflo fan. I have 2 of them one was installed when I bought FW and I should have had it replaced on warranty but oh well it's to late. I bought a remote model last year and the thing was squeaking by August.
I called SHURflo as a lot of people had done that I read about on here. They told me to run the fan on high for 48hrs continuously this was supposed to "wear in the motor" ??? I thought what ever... Sooooo...I did this just this last weekend as it was to cold before this to go out due to weather... I went back out 48 hrs after... the fan blades were hardly moving. I shut it off and turned it back on and nothing, I had to spin the fan by had to get it going it would not go on high reverse was the same...
Well I emailed SHURflo and long-short they are going to send me a motor for the remote unit as a warranty replacement. The other unit I asked if I could buy a motor to replace it but they told me that they don't sell them as parts. I have to take it to a motor shop and have the bearings replaced.
Has anyone had to do this? It looks like I have to cut the wires to the motor and then splice them back in when they are fixed.
Replacing the bearings it looks pretty easy as the covers look like they come off. Then I would imagine that the bearings should slide off the shaft and put in new ones. (I hope anyway)
Anyone with feed back on this would be great. Hoping to do this in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks to all in advance for the reply's!!!

That doesn't sound good. Not to start a which is better campaign ,but We have never had a motor go out on any of the Fantastic Vents that have been in every RV that We have owned.
Shurflow may be using a cheap motor, kind of like some of the Power Tools for sale at HF ,CT and Other discount places! No Bearings just a sleeve!

Are you sure they are bearings?
I've seen many with a brass sleave over the steel shaft at both ends
Try some penetrating oil it has helped me out a few times over the years
Might save a few bucks
I would guess that a shop that repairs electric motors would be a good soource of bearings. They will probably have to match them up to get ones that will work.
