Looking at new TTs at the RV shows, I noticed that windows seem to be a thing of the past. I'm talking about lots of windows and windows that open. Big honkin' windows on the front, windows in the bathrooms, windows where the majority of their sq. ft. opens and can remain open in the rain. Couple that trend with all the dark wood interiors and what I saw made me think of caskets on wheels.
Another annoying, non-sensical trend: venting water heaters, furnaces and refrigerators into the under-awning sitting area.

(Sigh!) All I want is a brand-new 1973 Shasta or Terry. Anyone else with me?

Find a used one and restore it. You'll get your wish. Only takes money. Best old trailer we ever owned was an old Terry. Fantastic for feeding a large crowd. But I would not go back to it today. I like my creature comforts too much.

A few less windows hardly makes me think of a casket. Windows windows windows however does make me think of leaks leaks leaks. I'll opt for a couple less windows.

Yes, I noticed and do care! We crossed a few models off the shopping list due to "European style" dark tinted windows. I'm sure that's great for Phoeniz in July, but I don't want to feel like I'm in a cave.

I understand your position. But, I mostly use my TT for sleeping so I don't need that many windows. But, it is nice to have one by the dinette table to look out and a few to open to let the breeze blow threw on a nice day.

I guess I'm with 'ya because I'm working on my '72 Starcraft, lol. Yeah, industries follow design patterns of their peers. If one mfg. sees that they can save a few hundred by eliminating a couple of windows like the competition, it doesn't take long for that decision to follow. I also see a lot of posts about axle and frame failures, that is more worriesome to me than the lack of windows. A window or door could be added after purchase (not an inconsiderable task) but fixing a poor quality frame is a lot more work and potentially dangerous.
Another thing I'm hearing is the lack of quality control, small leaks, improper operation of appliances, and overall lack of attention to detail means trips back to the dealer or money out of pocket to fix items that should have been addressed presale.
The fitment of tires to be just marginal for axle ratings is also indicative of where the RV mfg. are heading with quality and safety. It may take something akin to the Ford Explorer debacle to get things straightened out and where we see some improvement.
Now, there may be some Mfg.'s that I don't know about that produce a quality product, different from the mainstream and I'm sure all of these Mfg.'s are building to a certain price point. It just seems like things are, like mentioned about the windows, moving in a downhill direction.

I'm not overly concerned about the window issue as long as there are some in the dinette and maybe a good one out the back.
What REALLY bothers me is the venting of the furnace, etc in the sitting area under the awning! Especially the furnace! That thing gets HOT!

We have a Class C ,not a trailer , but we've noticed the lack of windows in newer models of all types of RVs. Our windows let in lots of light ,frame beautiful scenery and make it possible to have wonderful cross breezes. A lack of windows ,small windows or windows that don't fully open would be a reason for us to not buy a particular RV.

Although I share the OP`s enthusiasm for lots of windows, from the point of view of a salesman many folks walk into a rig and immediately start counting cabinets. Windows be damned if they have more room for their stuff. I`ve had more than a few ask about factory orders where they can get rid of windows and add more cabinets. To each his own.
