Not all State Parks in Illinois ban Alcohol. Some only have the ban in the campground. Like all others have said, if you don't flaunt it, no problem. I have talked with rangers about it and it has been explained to me that it makes it easier to evict someone from the park for breaking the alcohol rule instead of trying to evict them because they are too loud or too obnoxious. We have been camping in our favorite state park for 18 years now and it has an alcohol ban. Many adult beverages have been consumed and we have not had an issue.

x however many on the even if it is banned, just drink responsibly and concealed and you won't be bothered. NC state parks ban it. Poplar point even has several signs stating no alcoholic beverages. Many sites have the open area behind the trailer or a large open area beside the trailer that is blocked by trees/bushes etc from the road. The rangers don't come on the site and bother you unless there is a reason to do so. We had a group 2 sites over that were loud and obnoxious, we didn't think about the alcohol rule but when they left to go to the beach area for a few hours and left a log burning in the fire pit with no-one there we were quick to say something to campground host. Host said they can't go on the site unless invited or an absolute reason to go on (ie rule violation). He walked near the log checked on it, it was smouldering at this point so he said he would just let the ranger know. Point is, don't do anything flagrant or stupid and you should be ok.

Not too long ago, I took my son to a gun show here in San Antonio. (He is interested in all things WW2. They seem to have a lot of that kind of stuff.) Anyway, there was a man there selling "beer sleeves". They were like empty shells of soda cans that slip onto the beer can and hide them. Pretty cool.
I always have a bottle of scotch with me for a little nip before bed. I consider alcohol to be just another beverage choice. I don't drink to intoxication. I practice my social drinking at my local hangout.

All but a few State park campgrounds here in Michigan allow it. Except for the Day use areas.
The ones that don't are from Holland, Grand Haven to Muskegon along the Lake Michigan shoreline. To many underage HS and College kids camp there and it got to be an issue.

No bans in Delaware state park campgrounds. If you make too much noise after 10:00pm, you may have a problem depending on your neighbors. In VA state and COE parks, we just pour into a solo cup. On our first VA trip, we relaxed after noticing everyone around us was having a drink.

This makes me want to start singing the song "red solo cup" by Toby Keith. He tells the cup he loves it and it is his friend. The song is great and the video is hysterical (makes me think of my old college days).

I love it! I ain't goin camping with no beer! On several ocassions my wife has forgotten to pack the freezer. 361 trips in 30 plus years.. Never have forgotten beer. Yes, I'm from Wisconsin. Only in Wisconsin can you get beer at a church festival! The rangers in State Parks will crack down "real fast" beer bashes in State Parks.
Are you telling me that Illinois ban's beer at state parks? The state where 65mph is just a suggestion...
New Jersry has a ban? Have anyone besides me been there, very difficult to believe.
