Yep, as long as you are not publicly intoxicated you are good to go. I'd be fine if they were dry but I don't mind if there is light drinking. No patience for drunken fools however.

Anyway, there was a man there selling "beer sleeves". They were like empty shells of soda cans that slip onto the beer can and hide them. Pretty cool.
I always have a bottle of scotch with me for a little nip before bed. I consider alcohol to be just another beverage choice. I don't drink to intoxication. I practice my social drinking at my local hangout.
Jim, if you happen to find a website for these beer sleeves I would like to take a look.
Edit: never mind found them on eBay!!!

When I started camp hosting in VA state parks I asked one of the LEO Rangers about their policy on alcohol. His response..."act like an adult and get treated like one, act like an idiot and get treated like one." I think they have a good policy.

OR doesn't ban booze either. I just put my cold one in a cup and enjoy myself.

I will not camp where you can't have a beer. My favorite State Park allows it. We always take a walk around the campground after dinner with a cocktail/beer. its nice way to check out some other campers and mingle a little bit.
Now what gets me is the campground i'm going to Memorial day w/e bans the use of electric heaters!! Seems foolish but I know why they do it, I would love to know how they enforce that one!!

I'll always bring beer regardless. I'm not an idiot and won't drink excessively...not my first rodeo. My truck and TT always have several coozies in them...maybe it's a Texas thing but I know a lot of people that will actual go to bars and bring a coozie with them. Keeps the beer colder longer and your hand dry.
I was at one CG and we went over to the pool area with the kids. I brought a beer with me....I had someone that worked there notify me that I could not have a beer there and it was restricted to my camp site...he was professional in the way he said it and I politely apologized and threw my beer away (well I downed it first). In that instance I honestly didnt know that was their policy and overall it was not a big deal.

Many years ago, we went camping in a NJ State Park CG with our PUP. I was aware of the NO alcohol policy and for proper garbage disposal because of bears. It was a beautiful evening. I had a Cool Tunes Bud cooler with a built in sound system, which would hold about 8 beverages. I sat by the fire, playing a CD and enjoying a covered beverage. That was about 9:00 PM. I woke up about 2:00 AM, a few empty uncovered cans on the picnic table, music still playing, and lantern still on.
I dont know if I was more scared about Law Enforcement or the fact that a bear could have done something with me. Must have been the cheap beer. I was young and dumb then...

For those that were saying GA state parks don't allow alcohol, the website states that Intoxicants are prohibited in public-use areas. I (like many people I have been around) take this to mean I can have a drink in my campsite, but I shouldn't be making a public display. Oh yeah, the restaurants in the lodges at the parks that have lodges (or resorts) serve alcohol. I have a nephew who works in the bar of the resort at my nearest state park.

More Georgia trivia -- the COE CGs around Lake Lanier make you initial the driver hang tag that shows your site number. They stamp "No Alcoholic Beverages Allowed" and you initial that stamp.
Hasn't stopped me or got me in trouble in over 7 years at COE CG's. Like everyone else said, "be cool and no issue; get stupid and end up gone"

"act like an adult and get treated like one, act like an idiot and get treated like one."
I like that. That should be true in all parts of life. Here in Nebraska, they just started letting us drink in the state parks. I won't take my family to someplace where the massive binge drinking ane partying are going on. Don't get me wrong. I've all for sitting by the fire and having a few but act like an adult.
