Sorry, I will refrain from posting in Hybrid Trailers again.

I visit all the forums and make comments all the time. All of these trailers are basically almost the same - just might look alittle different. I learn alot about my POPUP from the other forums "BIGTIME"... About the only forum I don't visit is the motorhomes as they are setup weird to me and have alot of extra buttons and switches to operate hehe... To me this is why the forums are here - for all of us to learn the ends and outs of how to make a better mousetrap out of our own trailer. I have to keep up with all the problems encountered all by myself as not much money growing on trees around here to take it a shop.

My Posts are IMHO based on my experiences - PM me

I just had to replace my front bunk this year too and of course i could not get a new one. So i got two pacees of ply wood and screw and guled them together. I took the out side fram off the old door and reatached fo my new door. It was pretty easy to do. Its a bit heaver than the old door but its not too bad.

to clarify, my problem is that many forum member post here, that have no idea what a hybrid is, let alone the unique technical issues they may have.
i have no problem with them providing help with things that are common with all RVs, such as converter issues, sewage issues, warranty issues, towing issues and so forth, that are posted on the Hybrid forum. i welcome their help and knowledge.

but, when there are issues that are particular to hybrids and not to any other type of RV, then i feel it's not helpful and only complicates things.

personally, i don't post on the other forums for other types of RVs. not do i even visit those other RV-type specific forum.
i've never owned a MH or 5th wheel or TH or TC, so i feel that i have nothing to offer there. those are forums for owners of that particular type of RV and aren't generic forums.

i do post on the generic sections, such as Tech Issues or Towing because those deal with issues common to multiple types of RVs.
and i have some knowledge and experiences with those issues, that might help someone.
but i would never consider even going to the Class A forum, for example, and begin offering advice to those seeking help with their Class A, because i've never owned one nor have even rode in one.

I frequent both travel trailer and hybrid sites. While mine may not be a true hybrid it is an expandable ( rear slide ) and there is a lot of overlap in the mechanics of the two trailers.

Another good point is maybe someone posting here or in another forum was a previous owner of the type of camper being discussed.

I've had three different popups over 20 years for example and have a pretty thorough understanding of them. Heck, my first trailer was an old used 1969 Scamper popup with a manual lift roof and pool liner blue coated canvas. LOL - That camper was unique a the campgrounds.

I have owned a Hybrid, Travel Trailer, Toy Hauler 5th Wheel and a regular 5th Wheel... But bikendan makes me feel pretty unwelcome here.

I'm going to violate my previous statement and give one last post. When I go to RV.net I always click on "Newest" in the top left hand side. I don't even notice what forum the topic is in, which is what got me in trouble. The original poster said he had a 2000 Damon Camplite TT. I Googled it and all I found was Camplite Pop-up campers. I didn't know Camplite even made a Hybrid. He even said he had a Popup door. It never occurred to me to check what forum the topic was under. That is why I said that I didn't understand his question and tried to clarify it and offer some help. I know now to stay away from the Hybrid forum since I haven't, don't, and probably won't own one. Sorry to have upset everyone.

On the topic, five years ago I rebuilt my Kiwi 23B front bunk door. It was constructed with, outside fiberglass sheet,Luan over 1" alum frame filled with 1" Styrofoam filling and Luan with contact paper over it. If I recall correctly it was about 1 5/16" thick, could not find Luan the right thickness so I used Masonite inside and bathroom fiber sheet between outside sheet and frame. Hardest part was removing the original fiberglass sheet from outer Luan, used wide flat blade working slowly. Put it together using Gorilla glue, toke a week letting each layer dry as needed. Eric

SolidAxleDurango, I wouldn't let that keep you out of the hybrid section. If you have information that can help some one, it don't matter what kind of R.V. you have or what site you're in. If someone needs help and you can help them do it.
