I just get what I can afford but it is amazing what some will spend on toys for entertainment purposes

Do you love your TT? Does it matter that yours is smaller? Yours will be paid off quicker, can get into more spaces, and best of all...IT'S YOURS!

Be happy that you can afford the luxery of an RV and don't worry about "the Jones".

"extra money" you gotta be kidding, not everyone is Warren Buffet my uppity friend...

But some are. How is that "uppity"? I am certainly NOT warren buffet, but I do well with what I have. If I did better, I expect my RV (like a lot of my things) would reflect that. I certainly don't begrudge anyone for having more than me, any more than I look down on those with less than me. And let's face it, if most of us didn't have "extra money", we wouldn't be here talking about our mobile vacation homes!

Don't be a hater, if someone can afford a million dollar coach, good on em. I'm happy with my pickup and TT, and someday, I'd like a nice Airstream, just because. And, someday I will!

I do not be grudge anyone for having what they have..I am very happy for them, and happy, and totaly content with mine, just have a problem with the "haves" making insulting comments about the "have nots"..this is an elitest position..and has no place on a general camping forum...my opinion only...ymmv...wolfie

For what I have in my Excursion that we bought used and my TT we bought new, I could have a nice used DP! In fact I`m always looking for a deal out there. so you don`t need a ton of money to own one of those expensive RV`s. you just have to decide where you want to spend your money. instead of buying a new $40k car you could spend $20k and buy used and put the other $20k toward a used RV. it all adds up!

We bought our 35 ft rv in 2009. It was 4 years old. We saw it on ebay and went to look at it. The place we bought it goes to auctions and repos. I gave him a bid that was way under what he advertised and was really shocked when he said ok. It was even way under nada low retail.
Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time is what it takes. Our friends have small TT and its not what you have "but the fun and memories you make".

Uppity? That's what the guy in the tent thinks of Mr. 18' TT.

It is all perspective and that really doesn't matter anyway. You worry about your own and don't worry what the neighbors are doing. Damn those Jones!

That's true, and some people owned businesses and made a lot of money, and some people sold their paid-for $600K house, bought a rig and hit the road, and some people just have a boatload of money for some reason or another.

Yeah, don't try to keep up with the Jones'. But there are many many factors. First of all, you don't know what their income was. Secondly, you don't know what their spednig was like (or is otherwise). Thirdly, you don't know what other circumstances come in to factor (inheritance, sold home, lawsuit settlement, made good investments). And Fourth, it's none of your dang business. lol

In the last 8 years my salary has more than doubled. We still have maintained the level of living we had 8 years ago. We are getting smarter with our money. While we do still spend some, we budget more than we used to and we are working at paying off bills. We hope to have everything except our house paid off in a few years. And if I remember the numbers correctly, we could have our house that we bought 5 years ago, paid off in 8 or 9 years from now. That is if we stick to the plan. But we are considering a different RV before then. Not sure if a 5th wheel or a MH. We will wait to see then.
