It seems like a lot of work getting out of the house. Getting the TT all loaded up takes at least a couple of hours. Before we bought the trailer we were sure it would be as easy as hooking it up and taking off. I guess it would be different if we left nonperishables in the trailer. We do have tooth brushes towels, soap etc but still seems to take a while.
Does it eventually get as easy as hooking up and driving off? Hints and tips welcomed.
We kept everything in the RV except food stuff and meds, cell phone, etc.
In the fridge I rounded up everything for the trip on one shelf, in a bin if I could. We normally didn't take much from the freezer. We piled stuff up at the door as we thought of it and we got to where we could load up and go in about half an hour. To do that, we did have to do some prep the day and night before. You will learn ways to streamline the process. Another thing to consider is whether you're taking too much. (we were!) Pared it down. Cooked some foods ahead of time and put in storage bags which are easy to "grab and go". I tried to make meals from things in the camper (canned goods, pasta, rice, beans, tuna, etc) A list helped us. Each person had part of the list.

I agree, I thought it would get easier with each progression. We started out in a tent and have graduated through the ranks, pop-up, TT and now a 5th wheel.
We keep our camper fully stocked (like a 2nd home) including non-perishable food and clothing. We are down to bringing perishable food, medication, laptop and camera (as needed). We also try and keep a list from the previous trip of anything we might need to replace.
The secret is learning to live with less stuff! I'm not there yet but every trip we seem to do better. I suffer from the "i better bring this what if we need it" gene. My DH is of the opinion we need NOTHING other than beer, our dog and clothes!!! Obviously throughout the years we've had a ton of stuff that we've never needed. As the years go by we rid our camper of more and more unnecessary items.
we have a complete set of clothing, bedding, eating & cooking utensils, pots and pans, shoes, jackets, etc. in the MH. at the beginning of the season we fill the pantry with non-perishable food. all we need do to head out is load perishable foods, meds, the cat, PC and us.

Well, food is an obvious one. That has to be loaded for each trip.
Aside from perishables and fridge stuff, mine is ready to roll at any time.
I keep all clothing stored in the wardrobe, right down to socks and underwear.
I keep all toiletries stored in the bathroom cabinet, including shaving razor, toothbrush and toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo, everything.
I keep extra towels, faceclothes and the like in the closet ready for use. Extra linen, blankets etc. are always there. I use my unit often, so I store it with a full fresh water tank, black and grey empty.
Kitchen has everything, all cutlery, dishes, cookware etc. is designated to the TT.
So when I want to take off for a weekend or a trip, the only thing I need to load is perishable food. I keep it stocked with non perishables at all times.
Aside from picking my TT up from storage, I can be loaded and ready to go in about 20 minutes, The time it takes to stock the fridge and cupboards of food.
After the trip, I pre-prep it for the next trip. I make sure the grey and black are drained, I wash linens and towels etc. I wash the floor, clean the toilet, tub and sinks and then put it into storage.

We don't keep any food at all in the camper. If we were going for a simple weekend trip to the state park up the road, then we would go and buy what we needed for the trip and load it. If we go somewhere further away and for a longer period of time, then we might put a few food items in there, but we mainly wait to where we are going and buy food for only a couple days at a time. We often will go out to eat while on vacation and don't want to be held donw to a schedule. We may decide to go out to eat an hour before dinner time, so filling up the cabinets and the fridge with stuff that might not get used is a waste of time for us. Plus our taste for something might change. Other than that, besides clothes and a few linens, it's pretty much ready to go. But it does seem that we are doing a lot of prepping before going. lol
With our camper in storage at myrtle beach now, i'm hoping that we just grap the clean linens and some clothes and will be ready to go. We will see in a couple weeks...lol

I don't store clothes, towels or linens in the camper.
We don't have the luxury of 'just jump in the camper and go'. Our trips are planned most times so a few nights before we load and do everything like check tires etc. The morning of leaving we have very little to handle, lock up the house and go so we can feel like it didn't take forever to leave.
But there are those days that it seems we can't get out of the house and on the road I know.
The guy in the class A across from us last weekend was getting great satisfaction watching us getting ready to pull out. Without a toad, and with only 2 chairs and an awning deployed, he could have been gone in 5 minutes. So the answer is no with a TT and less no with a 5er that any of us can just get in and go.

I know just what you're saying! Every once in a while I dream of getting a small C - seems like we could just jump in and go. But - the reality is all the stuff still has to be loaded in.
Just look at it this way - still far better than a hotel where you have to unload and load every time you move. Maybe what we need is one of those bellman carts like they have for luggage at hotels. Load it up and roll it out to the camper.
